Z590 hero post boot delay

Hi
I am wandering if anyone has this delay on boot.
I have 2 x wd duo external hard drives connected to my hero.
Is taking 32 sec to post boot. I mean there are 20 extra seconds when there are connected to get to the asus bios logo.
If they are not connected it will fire up straight away. Does anyone knows how to ignore this external drives on boot?
I can't find anything on the bios that can skip them.
I am running Windows 11 and latest bios 1301.
Thanks.

Hi,

Try turning off usb legacy support. I'm having similar issue when I connect all my usb devices, but disabling this option makes boot much faster. It's still not as fast as it was with older chipsets but it's fine. Worth a try.

Hi
I already tried.
I didn't make any difference. Boot time remained the same.
Thanks

Hi Dimitris.tzintzis,
It is possible to disable the external hard drives in boot menu or sata configuration, but you have to replug in the external hard drives after boot into windows to detect them.
I think it is not convenient than your scenario...

Hi STARRAIN@ROG
I will try your suggestion to replug the drives after boot this afternoon.
This drives don't appear in boot menu. Only in USB configuration and there is option to disable legacy mode that dosent make any difference.
Thanks

Hi
I tried to replug this afternoon but didn't change anything.
Actually I got a reply from Asus telling me this

"You can try enabling fast boot.
Please try the following:Â*BIOS -> Advanced mode-> boot tab -> fast boot set to enable.
If that doesn't help, then that is the minimum required time for booting.
All connected devices and peripherals are checked during POST,Â*USB attached HDD can indeed cause delay in boot.

I do hope that this has been of some help to you. If not, please do not hesitate to contact us again and we will be happy to assist"

Thanks anyway
