Z590-E: ASUS RTX4090 stuck in PCIE 3.0 mode

Hello,

I installed my just arrived TUF-4090-GAMING-O24 *in my Rog Strix Z590-E PCIE4_1 slot and the card is stuck in PCIE 3.0 x16 mode.
I have i9-11900K with a Samsung 980 Pro installed in M2_1 slot. Drive reports running at PCIE 4.0 x4 mode.
No other PCIE cards installed. Only two NVME drives at M2_3 and M2_4.
Latest BIOS (1402) on board and latest drivers everywhere. Tested with GPU-Z, AIDA64 and HWinfo64. All report the same.

I have already performed a BIOS reset and loaded optimized defaults in BIOS. No change.

Resizable bar is on and reported as active.

OS is Windows 11 22H2, latest patches.

Otherwise the card seem to work fine.

Any idea anyone?

Hello, Killersjp and Frode68. Thank you for your prompt reply.

After confirming with our relevant teams, the issue has been resolved in the BIOS version 1701, and we must wait for a future driver release from Nvidia to address it.
If you still have any concern about the current use, it is recommended that you use the previously provided special BIOS.
Please let me know if you need a special BIOS, and I will provide it through PM.

Thank you.

After installing the new driver 528.02, the error is fixed. My RTX 4090 Gaming OC runs in PCIE 4.0 mode. Thank you.

Yupeee! Issue solved with 528.02 new driver as of today. Thanks!

Also confirmed with the PCI E feature test within 3D Mark suite - bandwith is 25 Gb/s as it should be

Hi. two things. If you read back earlier in this thread you will see us Z590 owners were advised that this issue would be fixed in a future driver from Nvidia. Now Asus claim 1701 bios fixes the issue with no driver from Nvidia, which is not the case as 3 z590 users including myself so far say its still Pcie 3.0. and now again Asus says to wait for a Nvidia driver again. If im not wrong the Bios detects which Pcie version the Graphic card runs at and not the operating system so no driver will fix the issue as the system setup is before the operating system or any driver is loaded. two things can fix this, either updated bios on the motherboard or the Graphic card. Please can someone look into this. Thanks again

I have to say a big thank you to Asus and Nvidia for fixing this. To be honest I thought the fix was not going to happen. I am so happy to be wrong. Again a big thanks to Asus and Nvidia to listening to their users. Faith totally restored. Everyone have a great New Year of gaming. Lets Play.........

The new NVIDIA driver has solved the PCI 3.0 problem for me.
Now everything is working properly.
Thank you very much ASUS and NVIDIA for the support.
Regards
11700k and z590F.
