Z590-E: ASUS RTX4090 stuck in PCIE 3.0 mode

Hello,

I installed my just arrived TUF-4090-GAMING-O24 *in my Rog Strix Z590-E PCIE4_1 slot and the card is stuck in PCIE 3.0 x16 mode.
I have i9-11900K with a Samsung 980 Pro installed in M2_1 slot. Drive reports running at PCIE 4.0 x4 mode.
No other PCIE cards installed. Only two NVME drives at M2_3 and M2_4.
Latest BIOS (1402) on board and latest drivers everywhere. Tested with GPU-Z, AIDA64 and HWinfo64. All report the same.

I have already performed a BIOS reset and loaded optimized defaults in BIOS. No change.

Resizable bar is on and reported as active.

OS is Windows 11 22H2, latest patches.

Otherwise the card seem to work fine.

Any idea anyone?

Can I please get a BIOS for Maximus XIII Apex? I got the same issue with the MB and a Strix OC 4090 and support seems unaware of the new BIOS.

Thanks STARRAIN@ROG works like a charm.

Why isn't the BIOS (1450) posted on the official site? Is it in a beta state?

I own a ROG MAXIMUS XIII HERO, what is going on?

Hi midianprime,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are dealing with this issue with NVIDIA. Please use the bios we provided during this period.
The issue is expected to be fixed in a future NVIDIA graphics driver.

New bios today for my Z590 e gaming.

Version 1601 on download support.

Maybye it's coming soon for the XIII Hero.

I saw that for the Z590 e gaming, the 1601 bios does not fix the Pcie 4.0 problem unlike the 1450 (which is in beta?)
Are you going to release a new bios since the 1601 doesn't fix the problems?
Or do we need to update to 1601 and wait for nvidia sharing a fix?

Hi. People with a RTX 4090 on Maximus Xiii Hero do not bother with the new 1601 bios that is now on the support site, it goes back to Pcie gen 3 for the RTX 4090. Im putting the 1450 beta bios back om. Why Asus releases a newer version bios that does not correct the issue with RTX 4090 is beyond me. I wonder if they have put the wrong bios up. I read a administrator on one of these sites saying you needed a 1450/1650 or higher bios to fix the Pcie problem with a RTX 4090 and certain Asus Z590 motherboards.
