Z590 click/pop/crackle sound

I Don't remember this being a thing when I was on my z370 hero board but maybe I didn't pay attention but since switching to the z590 hero. I get a tiny crackle/pop ONLY at the beginning of certain sounds like system sounds or logging into a discord channel. Never music/games/any other audio. All is perfectly clean during playback. Only a slight sound at the beginning of those sounds. What could that be? I've checked all connections (z906 logitech system) and I run Optical output.

I have done both firmwares for optical and line out.

Just to be clear, no issues whats so ever during music/gaming/youtube etc. Only certain sounds like system sounds, or entering discord/error sounds within windows. at the very start when the first sound plays, after that its fine. I don't really understand what it is.

Thanks

Hi kernolsz28,
Thank you so much for you video but I'm afraid I don't hear the click/pop in the video.

The pop\click is diffenetly there. I can hear it clearly. It's like in the middle of the sound. There is 2 type of sounds in this video. Sound #1 (join Discord sound) and sound #2 (leave Discord sound). Each time sound #1 is played there is a clear click.
Make your speakers louder and when sound #1 is played you can hear kinda this type of sound.

Hi Rocket Scientist,
I used the headphone while watching the video. Although I have made it louder, My colleague and I cannot hear the click/pop in the video...
I'd appreciate it, if there is normal sound to compare with.
Thank you.

I do encounter on some system sounds yes, Like User Account Control pop up when running things with admin as example. But Discord is the main one I hear because I don't usually encounter too many system sounds during the day. I did double check and yes I am on bios 1202 and have done both default and my OC and there is no difference.

My system is
intel 10900k
G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200mhz 32GB ( 2 x16 ) F4-3200C14D-32GTZR
Asus Strix 3080 oc
EVGA 1200p2 psu
ROG Maximus XIII Hero mb

Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎11/‎25/‎2021
OS build 19044.1415
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0

I will PM you the serial of the MB and post a video again

Here is a video of the sound issue at the beginning of the video. When you hear the double join (which is random discord thing but we can use it for the middle of the video marker) i then speed up a tad and you dont hear the pop after that. I have tested like this and it seems like when you speed up, it's not letting the audio to sleep or settle down and you don't hear it. But casually joining or having people randomly join it happens.

Best way i can describe the non pop/crackle sound is the bell has a more clean /softer sound to it. This audio is also on the lower side, my kids were sleeping. I normally have my volume louder so the pop/crackle gets extremely annoying.

Here is another, around the 8 sec mark. you will here a joining sound with the pop but the rest before and after is clean. This was with something in the background paused and it still randomly popped there.

Hi kernolsz28,
I'm afraid our tech team cannot reproduce the audio issue you mentioned.
Here is the testing video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-xwEAzUAwn9jBczXf_zdkiXKsWRutyJw/view?usp=sharing
Do you have other reproducing steps or the specific settings about the issue?
Thank you.

When I listen to that You are right I hear no clicks or pops at the beginning of joining, but When I do it, It's clear as day. I have changed noting in my settings or when I do make any changes to try and eliminate, nothing works. Searching around forums I know I'm not the only one. I didn't have this issue with my old z370 board so when i first started hearing it I went and found others with the z590.

If I plug anything into my front IO then I don't hear anything wrong.

I've tried 3 different optical cables to my z906 system.

Plugging anything into the center console I still get the cracks/pops.

I'm basically lost on what i can do.

Heres what someone in another thread posted as workaround/test.

If this works for you, you have the problem all ALC4080 users have.

I enabled the stereo mix and DO NOT hear the clicking anymore with same test.

Disabling. I DO.
