Use ROG fan controller without USB 2 header?

Hi there everyone, this is my first post on the forum so if it's in the wrong place let me know!

I want to use the ROG fan controller with the z690 extreme I've just bought, however in the instructions it says to plug the bord into a usb2 headder via the micro USB cable, unfortunately I need the 2 USB headders on the bord for other things, is there a way to run it without the USB headder? Or to connect it to a USB3 socket or headder?

I guess my most preferable way to do it would be to get a USB A to micro USB and to plug the micro into the fan controller and the USB A plug into one of the USB 3.1 plugs on the back of the Mobo

Would that work?

Surly the USB connection is only handling data and not anything else?

The USB connection is for data handling.
It would work as you get a USB A to micro USB and to plug the micro into the fan controller and the USB A plug into one of the USB 3.2 port on the back panel of the motherboard.

I'm guessing that if I can find a USB 3 headder to socket I could use that to keep it all internal if I use the socket and the USB a to micro cable
