Tuf Gaming 3080 ti on x570E Gaming - "VGA" mode issues

Strange issue on an upgrade to an existing PC, Asus X570E Gaming, Ryzen 9 5900, 64GB. It has had an MSI 2060 Super in it all working fine, with DisplayPort connection into a Samsung CRG90 49" widescreen.

I just installed the Tuf Gaming 3080 ti and while it boots, it will not initiate "VGA" mode on its way through BIOS, and the motherboard retains its white "VGA" boot issue LED lit all the time. If I connect over HDMI to the Samsung same issue happens.

If I connect to an old LG 27" monitor I have it works fine, initiates VGA mode, BIOS is accessible, and the PC boots fully without the VGA fail white LED lighting up.

I'm at a bit of a loss to work out what the issue is, whether it's the card, the motherboard or the monitor. Anyone got any ideas?

is a very old issues.

These happens when CSM is disable and UEFI is running on the boot record. more and more users are seeing that since is the new way to use windows and more with new cards and and amd etc etc etc.

sleep and hyberantion is brokern since 1902

what i do is to disable all that, and on the morning, i turn on the monitor and the pc , in that order. the white light will go away. that happens cause the the gpu is not on using uefi drivers. these is 100% duplicable and happens ONLY when csm is disable and uefi is active on boot records. more and more will be a thing and is a very very old issue

Sort of good news... after a couple of weeks of back and forth with Asus, I got this update today:

"Thank you for your patience and please refer to the feedback below upon review of this case by our Team. Passed to R&D Team, firmware will be uploaded to ASUS Support when available. No update currently available."

So they are acknowledging the issue, but do not yet have a date to resolve.

May well be the case. Doesn't really matter.

These cards should work with CSM disabled (so you can use resizable BAR) and UEFI without having to jump through strange workarounds, as do 3080s and 3090s when used in the same configuration without the same issue.

As noted, this is now a known 3080 Ti issue and it looks like fixes are starting to become available for some AIB partners.

Nvidia have confirmed that this is an issue and that they have now resolved with a VBIOS update - see their response at https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/geforce-graphics-cards/5/457915/asus-tuf-gaming-3080-ti-...

We have rolled out a video BIOS update for the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti to our graphics board partners which addresses the motherboard "VGA error" during POST reported by some users. Availability may vary by vendor depending on testing and schedule. Please contact your board manufacturer for additional support and information."

EVGA has also confirmed on Twitter that they are working on a VBIOS update. Apparently this is a bit more complex for them because they have an overclocking bios they support as well.

And so we keep waiting... update from Asus Support is... no support yet...

Almost a week after Nvidia advising that a VBIOS fix has been made available to partners, and after other vendors have published that fix to users - Asus remains silent...

Come on Asus, get this sorted please...
