ROG Stryx Z690-E: A corrected hardware error has occurred

The warning message below appears in my Windows 11 system event log a few dozen times per day. This started immediately after my initial build a few weeks ago.

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Primary Bus: Device:Function: 0x0:0x1A:0x0
Secondary Bus: Device:Function: 0x0:0x0:0x0

Could this be a driver issue? Maybe a hardware problem with the motherboard? I have the latest Intel Chipset drivers installed according to Armoury Crate.

Thank you for your information.
Was there no error message or stop code on the blue screen? just blue screen without any information?
Do you remember how long the system sit idle and you see the blue screen?
Could you please update to bios 0803 and see if there is still get whea 17 error and blue screen with bios all default settings?
May I also have the brand and model name of the hard drive with OS?

Do you all have a PCIE gen 3 riser cable? Remove the riser/cable, and try to plug in your graphics card directly to the PCIE slot on your motherboard. That fixed my issue.

Apologies, I should have been more clear. Yes, there was a blue screen error but I did not capture it at the time. I would estimate it was idling for at least 3-4hrs, with all sleep functionality disabled and the monitor powered off before it occurred. I will update to 0803 today, clear all the windows logging, and then see if I notice any changes. The SSD with the OS is a WD NVMe SN850, firmware 613200WD, and gaming mode is turned on.

UPDATE: I updated to the 0803 BIOS and am now only seeing the WHEA events at initial boot up, and then they appear to stop. However, I'm now seeing these below warnings, which I've not seen before:

The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS.

No riser cable here, I'm plugged directly into the first slot.

After updated to the 0803 BIOS and with all bios all default settings, do you still have blue screen?
Did you get a lot of Event 15, ACPI warning or once?
Did it also occur just after boot into windows or while run the specific apps?
For whea 17 error, could you please also try ALC4080/ALC4082 audio FW update(2021/12/09) form our support site?

I have not yet seen the blue screen again with the new BIOS revision.

When I got the ACPI errors I got a bunch of errors all at once very shortly after booting into windows.

I have updated the audio FW and continue to see the WHEA 17 warnings about every 4-5 minutes.

If i plug in my GFX into another Slot then PCIEX16(G5)_1, there is no more WHEA 17. If i turn PCIEX16(G5)_1 to Gen 3, no more WHEA 17 aswell. There is definitely a connection with the PCIEX16 (G5) _1 Slot and using higher then Gen 3.0. I tried that with 3 different nVidia 3000 Cards now. Same behavior for all Cards.
I have had all other Onboard Devices like Audio, BT, Network turned off for testing.

Hi all,
For WHEA 17 error, please enter Advanced Mod > Platform Misc Configuration > PCI Express Native Power Management > Disabled and then see if the errors appear again.
