day 5 without random restart, no armoury crate installed, only aura for keyboard.... 2 hours gaming and using 3ds max 2022 and premiere pro 2022... cheers

After the BIOS (316) upgrade, the laptop worked fine about 5 days, but then a shutdown/reboot occurred. However, I am running on Ubuntu 21.10 Linux.

Hi samipietila,
Can you describe more?
Which program are you using when the reboot happened? in games?
Thank you.

I think I have not used any particular program when the reboots have occurred. Once I was browsing web with the Chrome browser when the reboot occurred and one time I was using spreadsheet (Libreoffice). I don't think my laptop has ever rebooted in games, but I haven't played games that much.

Have there been any windows patches related to this problem? What do they exactly do? Could it be that Linux is missing some of the needed patches? If so, can Asus provide details for Linux developers what kind of patching is needed?

Once, after a random reboot I did look at kernel messages and saw these messages with included errors. Perhaps this is related to what is going on?

Let us know if you still experience reboot after this update.
Thank you.

Hi,

Do you mean this package: AMD_VBIOS_86018_9011_G513QY_G713QY? It is labeled as hotfix in Asus download page?

How to use this utility?

Installer.exe does not seem to do anything and running amdvbflash.exe gives "can not load driver".

Here I opened cmd as administrator and typed following commands:

Hi samipietila,
The new VBIOS installer has been released.
Please kindly update the VBIOS and let me know if you still experience reboot.
Thank you.

Hi,

The new installer works. vBIOS reports now amdgpu: ATOM BIOS: SWBRT86018.001.

Unfortunately, I just experienced a reboot with the new vBIOS.

Although I've had this model laptop for a little over two weeks and immediately installed the latest BIOS and VBIOS update on arrival, I also experienced the first reboot last night. Occurred while using Firefox (in Fedora 35 KDE).
