I have that board, B550-F gaming, and this problem doesn't happen with me.
Since you already tested everything but not the power button itself, try to turn jump the power connector on the board directly and confirm if the problem persists.
You can read more about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuPZlliGqBw

Hello, lezadas1982.

May I ask if your model is the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI)?
As for the description of "long pressing and the PSU doing 3–4 clicks, then the PC starts normally," could you please elaborate on what PSU clicks are? Please provide a video of the scenario if needed.
Meanwhile, are there any other issues in use besides the problem of long pressing the power button to turn it on? For example, the ASUS Q-LED is always on.

Thank you.
As the local holiday is ongoing, there may be further delays in responses.
We appreciate your patience in advance.

Hello, its new motherboard ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING model non wifi , my psu is Corsair Hx850i and When psu start make click sound and when go off too its normal, so that's mean when long pressing the power button the board and fans on/off instant 4-5 times and then will boot normally but its the only way, when board on/off the dram orange Q-LED just turn on/off also, but doesn't matter cause the same issue persist and without install any dram or gpu , I'm in process with rma with retailer ,i am very experience user my job it's about Pc builds, so i have already tried everything .. (when boot normally all ASUS Q-LED is off and all work fine)

Hello finally i removed the motherboard and package it to send it back to the retailer , but i make 1 last try and finally found the motherboard have the issue with psu corsair Hx850i and corsair rm650i, but when try it with 1 cheap Be quiet 600w Psu the motherboard work properly and boot with 1 single click on power button , from my experience probably the motherboard was shorted, and probably on Corsair Psu the safety protection worked ,just thought , board send already to retailer..
