No Spatial Audio / Non-Existing Audio Device shows up in Windows

is it normal that the driver for an Optical/Digital Output gets installed as well? My mainboard does not have such an audio output.

Also, why is Spatial Audio / DTS Headphone:X / Dolby Atmos for Headphones not available on any device connected to the rear I/O?
For the Digital Output it is possible to select spatial audio though. But since I don't have such an output I can't plug anything in there.
HDMI devices work as well.

I am using the latest driver as of now.
I've done multiple reinstalls already, yet no success

Hi arneIzDa,
I'm afraid the content in screenshot is not English, so I'm not sure the content.
I see there are DTS Headphone:X / Dolby Atmos for Headphones options in the third screenshot. Do you mean when you connected headphones or speakers to the rear I/O, DTS Headphone:X / Dolby Atmos for Headphones options will disappear?
Do you use HDMI devices and you can select surround sound?
Could you please help to change to English and capture screenshots again?
Thank you so much.

Yup any device in the rear I/O wont be able to play back Spatial Audio - no matter if DTS/Dolby/Windows Sonic. Had no issues with this on my previous Asus board.
And yes, via HDMI I can select any type of Spatial Audio.

Screens in english:

Headphones connected to rear I/O

properties menu for spatial sound of headphones

options available via HDMI

audio output showing up my mainboard does not have

Hi arneIzDa,
Thank you for your reply and the screenshots.
May I have the model name of your previous Asus board?
Did it occur with bios all default settings?
May I have the following information?
- the serial number of the motherboard via PM
- the brand and the model name of your CPU, RAM, graphics card, PSU, headphones and speakers
(Please check the specific model name of the RAM such as Kingston KF453C20RBK2/16.)
- OS version and OS build
Thank you.

Hi arneIzDa,
After consulted our tech team, if you want to use spatial sound, please connect headphones to front I/O.
Moreover, optical/digital audio output is supported on front I/O.
Thank you.

will try that tomorrow and give an update. Out of curiosity - whats the reason for this? Why is it that these audio formats wont play on the rear I/O?

Hi arneIzDa,
I'm afraid it is the design for ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4.
Please try it in front I/O.
Thank you.
