My old motherboard did exactly the same thing as this replacement board Asus sent me but with 99% rate that it would not power on unless I flicked the power switch on the PSU off for about 5 seconds.
This new board that I received has done the same thing 7 times now since I got it. The Hero leds stay lit as well as the start button on the board but it will not turn on at all. I tried both the start button and the power button on the PC case.
With my original board I experienced so many critical hard crashes. This new board has been stable for the most part, though I have experienced a couple freezes while playing games that it has recovered from. Below is a list of critical power shell error's I experienced with the old board as well as errors with the new board are showing up. From 2/13/2023 is when I installed the new board. As you can see I there are 8 listed and and I have had this problem 7 times with this new board so far.
I would also like to note that the old board would make slight ticking/clicking sound whenever powering on and this new board also does the exact same thing.
My PC components are: AMD Ryzen 5950x, ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi, G Skill F4-3600C17-16GTZR 4 sticks, Gigabyte RX 6700XT GPU, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB
I would also like to note that with the old board the crashes would be more frequent if I had multiple video or game windows opens.
Things I have tried on original board: New power supply Corsair RM 850x, Memtest pass 3 hours 35 minute test with no errors. 2 video cards 5700XT and a RX 590 Fatboy. Fresh windows install. All drives disconnected minus the boot drive. Even used the board with no front panel connection and the used start button to rule that out.
I am honestly so fed up with this Hero Wifi. Never in my life have I experience so many headaches.
My old system works and powers on perfectly fine Crosshair V Formula Z. Girlfriends old system does as well 2 lazy to get the specs. Also girlfriends new system powers on and off normally since day 1. And I built all the PC's listed above. Although both of her boards are Gigabyte.
I would also like to note that I had to pay return shipping for the RMA which is ridiculous considering the price tag on this mobo. Also Asus quoted me a 70 dollar return label they would provide which they stated would be cheaper. Not true.
This is what I get for procastrinating the problem. I should have just returned every single item and said you deal with it.
