Asus Rog Stris SCAR 17 SE G733CX - G733CW FAN SPEED CAPPED

Hey guys, I'm making this thread to report a problem that's been affecting almost every ASUS gaming laptop since last year.

I have the G733CX model i9 12950HX and 3080 ti. When I first purchased the laptop about 5 months ago, I had an older ARMOURY CRATE version where the fans speed was like 10-15% higher than the actual ones I get with the current version, I remember that version had a different interface where the gpu mode was showing mshybrid and discrete mode.

Currently, If I use the manual mode and set both fans to 100%, the cpu max rpm is 6000 and the gpu is 5800, fun thing is that if use the MyAsus app one click diagnosis, the fans go to 6500rpm and 6600rpm respectively, which makes NO SENSE. Also, turbo mode is just unusable for gaming since rpm speeds are way too low (4500-4600rpm) at full load.

I tried all 3 different bios 306, 310 and the most recent one 313 and there's no fix, so I believe that the problem might be the armoury crate, which btw I noticed that fan acoustics dbA are a lot higher than in the olders version.

Look at these screenshots so you guys can compare if you have a similar laptop model.

Sad thing is that I tried to report this in all ways and haven't got a solution in almost 2 months, there even was an "escalated" ticket to some support team that never replied back. I will probably never purchase another ASUS product in my life, customer support is terrible and inexistent.

May I know what problem you are actually having while executing the game? And what game do you play?

It's not a problem with a game, it's a general problem. Fan speed is capped either by the armoury crate app or the bios, most likely by the first one. This causes high temps since the fans won't work properly, even the turbo profile is unusable when gaming since rpms won't go higher than 4500-4600 rpm. I play games that have a high "consumption", so I need the fans to work fully for good temps.

What bothers me is that this is a widespread issue and when trying to report, I just don't get a reply or solution.

My previous laptop was an MSi and I have to say that their cooling method is way superior. I hate that asus support doesn't care about this kind of issues and they don't even bother to reply.

What are the BIOS version, Armoury Crate version, and operating system build version you are currently using?

Please provide a screenshot of Armoury Crate's fan speed when the game is executed in turbo mode.

In addition, please refer to the following FAQ to upload the log file to the cloud storage, and provide me with the link through the message.
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1043747/

Q5: What is App Diagnostics? (New Feature)
A5: In Armoury Crate "Settings"â‘* and check "About"â‘¡ page, If clicking App Diagnostics "Record Log"â‘¢, the Privacy Policy Statement will pop out. Once user agreed statement, the Armoury Crate will start to collect problem log and user can click "Generate log data"â‘¢ to generate the log file with encrypted (ASUS log file). After log saved, user can provide it to the repair center or technical supporter for further Armoury Crate problem diagnostics.

** I have sent you a message, please check. Thank you.

Hello, Bios 313, Armoury crate 5.3.4.0, windows 11 build 22621

Here is the screenshot. CPU 4500 RPM and GPU 4800 RPM at max load, temperatures are super high. I have to use manual mode for better temps, but the rpms are still too low for 100%.

I just installed the bios version 314 released today, fans speed is still the same. 😞

It is confirmed that the speed of the fan in turbo mode is CPU:4600/GPU:4800RPM.

If you experience laggy when running the game, please provide a video of the problem, the name of the game you're running, and the steps the problem occurred.

Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.
