Asus dark hero startup issue ?

Hi all
I have a Asus Crosshair VIII DarkHhero ...with an AMD 5900X , 32gb of Gskils ram

Had a few times over last few months since recieving board where the system wont power on.
You press power switch on case and nothing .
You press power button on motherboard ...nothing ....and its lit up white ...all rgb is working ( on when powered off )
If i turn off PSU and back then power it back on ...system boots fine.
It can then be fine for say 4 weeks ...then happen out the blue again.
Was ok with old motherboard....so only things that have changed is MB and CPU.

Tried reflashing bios back to earlier version ...no different.
Had new graphics card since last time so rules that out.
Tried taking ram sticks out ...no difference.

Seems starnge how can run for weeks without issue ( but dont use it every day )

Im using an EVGA supernova 850W PSU.

Not major issue as all have to do is power off PSU and all good again ...but got to be something wrong.
Asus say sounds like something tripping PSU protection ...will have to try unpluging 24 pin and 8 pin cables next time , then plug back in to see if motherboard or psu .

Any help most appreciated.

Can confirm this happens with the ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI) board as well. It is not exclusively the Dark Hero only. One way I have found that alleviates this is to sign out of windows first, then sleep or shutdown from lock screen. If you do it from Windows it screws up more frequently. I think it might have something to do with the ROG armory crate program and it is doing something weird with RGB lighting, so signing out closes its operations and tends to work as intended. I think the issue is the RGB isn't closing out properly and causing faulty shutdowns and sleeps.

No, it will also happen with other OS. It is OS independent. I shutdown the PC after memtest86 and I could also not turn the PC on.

I wasn't saying anything about what OS it is on. I'm just saying I'm not getting the problem when I shutdown/sleep from Windows lock screen instead of inside of windows.

It has somthing todo with RGB i got after reset now 5 weeks no problems. it works not for all ok but RGB is 1000000% also involved.

The sooner people accept this, the sooner Asus will find at least one of the possible causes.

it has sure, multiple causes and it is not this one fix.

I see, I just wanted to say that it is OS independent. RGB can play a role and honestly I don't care about RGB 😉

I'm currently using the MSI B450-A PRO MAX B450 and sent my ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero back to the dealer a good 2 weeks ago. Should be at ASUS by now.
(And no crashes or problem since then).

No matter what the cause is, it sucks 😉

Fingers crossed that ASUS finds a solution.

Greetings to all,
Vitacola

Yeah let's cross the fingers 😃
I still have this problem with the replacement board, but yeah, not that often.

Just want to share the updated list with the public:

Returned board:
Happened daily multiple times.

Replacement board since 27.10.2021:
13.11.2021
26.11.2021
12.12.2021

Just wonder when we'll get the next update from Asus.
A short weekly update about the progress would be fair.

I can't understand why there are no BIOS updates at all, it could seem like they don't give a **** about the customers, the volts are not accurate either, there are several construction sites, thus obvious ones, but none get fixed at all, they just ignore it complete in all ways.

i have Vccio 1.125 because on 1.1 i have 0.800, and with 1.125 i have 1.096 - 1.109 - ROFL

with the cheepest "gigabyte Aorus elite" is was rockstable on 1.1

Really first class support for one of the most expensive x570 motherboards.

--------

If all of this is not fixed and I don't get at least a 500w BIOS for my 3090 strix oc, I will not more buy from Asus from the price surcharge it is simply no longer worth it, in the past you got more support today you get less than from cheaper manufacturers.

This Republic of gamers sounds more and more to me like "Sony for the Players" but in reallity they **** the real gaming community and only one group can play it and they **** about all other GAMERS.....

Sorry for the words, but it is just like that and not different, this 500w fix is 2 min work but they do nothing 0% "as an example"

I agree that we should get at least some upgrade, I was using the board in a full custom loop, for me it is a nightmare to take the board out and send to RMA, I have to but a temp board since it is my work computer and have to buy a water block too since the block I used only suit hero board.

The last thing I want is to have a replace board and re fit everything then issue still exist, I cant believe that we are having this kind of issue in 2021, especially after spending that amount of money.

I have tried too.

Hi all,
I'm afraid the information from everyone is different. (stealth-mode, aura light settings, S4+S5...)
Some customers have sent RMA, and I will follow up those case to see if our repair center can reproduce the issue.
If it is possible, may I know the information below?
-If you shut down or put it to sleep mode and then turn it on or wake it up immediately, did the issue occur?
-How often the issue occurs?
For example: Shut down or put it to sleep mode for 1 hr each time and do 5 times a day. The issue occur once a day at least.
Thank you so much.
