Asus dark hero startup issue ?

Hi all
I have a Asus Crosshair VIII DarkHhero ...with an AMD 5900X , 32gb of Gskils ram

Had a few times over last few months since recieving board where the system wont power on.
You press power switch on case and nothing .
You press power button on motherboard ...nothing ....and its lit up white ...all rgb is working ( on when powered off )
If i turn off PSU and back then power it back on ...system boots fine.
It can then be fine for say 4 weeks ...then happen out the blue again.
Was ok with old motherboard....so only things that have changed is MB and CPU.

Tried reflashing bios back to earlier version ...no different.
Had new graphics card since last time so rules that out.
Tried taking ram sticks out ...no difference.

Seems starnge how can run for weeks without issue ( but dont use it every day )

Im using an EVGA supernova 850W PSU.

Not major issue as all have to do is power off PSU and all good again ...but got to be something wrong.
Asus say sounds like something tripping PSU protection ...will have to try unpluging 24 pin and 8 pin cables next time , then plug back in to see if motherboard or psu .

Any help most appreciated.

Dear Asus lover friends,
I have got same issue after the bios update to bios3904.
But I just realized my bios setting was cleared after bios update.
My main memory used to work as 3600MHz with "D.O.C.P Standard" at Ai Overclock Tuner.
But it was changed to Auto after the update!? 😛

So I just fix it to D.O.C.P Standard again then the issue is gone.

Hope this help some of you guys.

Sincerely,

I think we should warn other people to avoid ASUS since this is an unacceptable issue.
Tell your friends and anyone looking to build/buy a new PC to avoid ASUS.

Shocking that this issue has been going on for this long.

I just got a refund for my "new" used board - can't decide if I'm going ASRock, Gigabyte og MSI.

i have test in on a friends unify, if only I had known that beforehand....

25~ CPU-Z single score more, and i have here a custom loop, the test was without.

Active chipset fan - that's why I have moved the passive cooled board.

MSI has some of the best support for AMD, useful BIOS features and board quality is good.
Gigabyte has some really unique motherboards and board quality is good.
Would not use ASRock only boards I've had issue with AMD wise.

Hello guys,

No problem since I received my new board.
But guess what ?

New start up issue with the new BIOS UPDATE....

The computer start, instantly switch off and restart by himself 2 second later...

To be honnest I think it's my last time I'll choose ASUS for motherboard.

Is there anyone with in the same case ? Eveything was fine with previous bios version

Hello guys,
I've made a full clean install and no more booting issue. Here what I did :
- clean CMOS
- reinstall bios 3904 via usb
- clean all hard disk from bios with asus secure erase (important step)
- install windows by setting hard disk to GPT
- set the bios to nvidia rezisable mode
- install all the drivers
- VBIOS the graphic card (it's was the first time i did it, maybe this is what fixed the problem)
- Resizable bar is now on
- I've tested the turn on/off 20 times this morning and it's seems ok.

Hope this will help ,

Guys, don't do this. Don't waste more time! But read on...

###########################################

Specially reinstalling and cleaning all disks - DON'T DO THIS! This is a massive time waste and 100% not related to the problem. But if you think it can be... just unplug all the disks. But again: Ignore this "solution" because it is NOT a solution.

Also testing it within a short time window isn't a test in this case.

Some of you have noticed that the problem appears not every day - depends on the mainboard and what ever.
It's up to Asus to fix this.

This is to fix 3904 booting issue. I don"t think this will fix the power supply off/on problem...

A fresh install with a good computer is less than one hour. Maybe some of you may try
