Z390-F & 4266 MHz RAM 2x8GB

Hello,

I can't succeed to POST at 4266 MHz but at 4100 MHz only. I have tried to ioncrease the voltage over 1,45 Volt, but probably not more than 1,46 Volt, and, I know that the maximum allows to 1,5 Volt.

The kit is from Corsair, the Vengeance RGB Pro: CMW16GX4M2K4266C19 and they are 2x8 GB.

I have also overclocked the CPU with the "AI" Auto OC. The CPU VCCIO is at 1,4 V and the SA at 1,4 V and this seems too high, but, this did not crashed or anything at 4100 MHz, I have asked Asus to add this kit of ram to the QVL in a next BIOS update.

Why advertising a support of 4266 MHz ram while it cannot? Just only those G Skill ones who are 4x8GB each...


Do you have any other ideas ?

The CPU is a i9-9900K

I have suceeded to POST on my Z370-F a 4000 MHz RAM who isn't QVL (same corsair ones) and all I had to do is to increase a little bit the RAM voltage, but, here, I wonder if I should go near of the 1,47 to 1,50 V ?

I was able to reach 4200 MHz now at 1,45000 Volt. I have tried 1,51 and something with 4266 MHz but I'm afraid of going above that. Now it works, but needs 33 MHz per stick.


This forum is dead by the way... I never found anyone replying to me here... RIP.

You may need to increase the BCLK to reach 4266MHz which will also increase the cpu frequency.

Your IO and SA voltages are too high at 1.40v, should try and use no more than:

IO - 1.30v
SA - 1.35v

Dram voltage is safe up to 1.50v and is the maximum safe DDR4 Dram voltage recommended by Intel.

The Strix Z370-F supports up to 4000MHz so you're trying to run out of spec of the motherboard, for super high speed ram such as 4266MHz you should have gone with the Apex. But it looks like you're doing very good so far, if you want to keep pushing frequency, try increasing the BCLK until you see DRAM Target Frequency at 4266MHz then take note of the cpu frequency.

My mistake, your title says Z390-F but you mention Z370-F in your post.

The Z390-F does support up to 4266MHz so yeah try increasing the BCLK until Dram Frequency reaches 4266MHz.

Thank you for the replay, I actually own the Z370-F and I made buy to my brother in law a Z390-F with 4266 MHz ram, I have the routine behavior by typing the z370-f...

Now the Z390-F runs at 4133 MHz with just below 1.35 for both IO and SA. It has worked once at 4200 MHz but with those IO and SA at Auto (1.4 V) (Dangerous ? )

I have tried a little bit the BCLK in the Tweaker's Paradise... But, it's the evening now, and, I have the next week to test more. Do you have any other small tips that you might forgot? I'm taking them.

It could be a struggle to get 4266MHz stable.

I have the Maximus IX Code (Z270) with the 7700k, the board supports up to 4133MHz but I cannot get it at that frequency. The best I can do is 4000MHz 16-16-16-39-2T, I have not stress tested it but games run fine with no issues. It will not boot at 4133MHz with 20-21-21-41-2T timings, so I let it at 4000MHz cl16.

I have Dram voltage at - 1.55v
IO - 1.31v
SA - 1.32v

On my Z370-F, I am able to get 4000 MHz at 1,3794 V, my IO is at 1,3125 V and the SA is at 1,3375 V. I have just done that 5 minutes ago, because I was letting everything on auto since one week. Because I got my 4000 MHz ram not so long ago.

Now, I have those 4266 MHz ones to OC on a Z390-F...

I have let everything for my brother in law for today at 4100 MHz and everything else on Auto... Which means IO 1,4 V and SA 1,4 V .
I have tried the BCLK tyechnique Yesterday evening, but couldn't get further, I really need to find a nice guide, I guess I have found one at overclock.net https://www.overclock.net/forum/18088-hardware-reviews-program/1711158-9900k-z390-soldered-overclock... but I still need another one or something similar on youtube.

Well, on my Z370-F, it works, but I need to do something on the other one, I guess it worked once at 4200 MHz at 1,45000 with IO at 1,30625 V and the SA at 1,34375 V
Once, it has worked at 4200 MHz with IO at 1.34375 and SA at 1.343754 V aswell. But then, I don't remember, he played the whole day yesterday like this without any blue screen.

I made it post at 4200 MHz, but, then, it does not anymore, I guess that I need to play in those settings... But all I want is those 4266 MHz just for the sake to be able to run them like that... I have even send an request to Asus to develop a newer bios update to support those RAMs modules...
