Xbox 360 controller not working on Asus Maximus VI Hero

I've been trying to use my xbox 360 controller on my PC running Windows 8.1 and it works on my laptop running 8.1, but when i plug it into my PC it tells me that the device has malfunctioned or windows did not recognize. I've already gone through the whole driver escapade to no avail, inside device manager it comes up as unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).

I've tried all of the troubleshooting i could find online, but those people's PCs actually recognized it as a controller, mine has yet to do that, I've tried all the USB 2.0 & 3.0 ports on my PC, the controller does work without issues on my brothers xbox however, he is using it right now:(

This leads me to think it has to do with windows 8.1, but I've heard that the troubleshooting for them works, I'm thinking it may have to do with my USB controllers, but they all work with everything else. Please help. Thanks in advance!:D

Edit: Sorry i forget to list my hardware and specs, I'm on Windows 8.1 64 bit and you can find my system hardware/specs in my signature underneath this!!

I found this thread after I encountered an issue with my own Xbox 360 Controller (wired) and Xbox 360 FightStick. it detects hardware but will not function. Installed (and reinstalling) the Xbox 360 Windows drivers do not fix the issue. Starting to believe this issue is related to the ASUS board or a feature on it. Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated! I have the ASUS Maximus VII Hero.

I think you both just probably have discerning PCs and anything from a console they reject out of hand 😉

Damn PCs already know they are the master race.

I actually ended up figuring it out. Not sure which option it was that did the trick, but in the motherboard BIOS settings, I went to USB Configuration and changed it to:

Legacy Support: Auto (changed from Enabled)
Intel xHCI Mode: Disabled (changed from Enabled)
EHCI Hand-off: Disabled (changed from Enabled)

After doing this, the Xbox 360 controller and Xbox MadKatz SFIV TE Fight Stick detected properly and worked.
