hi guys i already have a 2500k in a sli gtx670 setup. was just considering changing to a 3770k and was wondering for gaming if this was a good idea, i think i need it to be able to use both my pcie slots at 16x, currently running 8x. how much of a difference would i gain. also what would a used 2500k be worth on say ebay starting price?

So how much temp difference would I see between my cm hyper evo 212 and the noctua nhd14 I mean my 2500k barely broke 60deg c at 4.5ghz with the cm. But I found for some reason the motherboard sometimes wouldn't post and wanted to revert to optimal settings. This is gigabytes sniper m3. Any ideas on that issue would be appreciated

how about the occasional non posting to OS? i mean when it is OC'd it has been 100% stable in everything even prime95 for 6 hours

It may be a "cold bug" of the memories... have you used Memtest86+? what are your memory settings?

my memory is running standard, setup seems to post 95% of the time then all of a sudden when i fire it up it posts to bios where it states something was off with setting and wants to revert to optimum settings. i am running corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram and even running XMP i am passing many tests of memtest86+ with no errors, originally i thought it was ram so i put it all back to stock except for the OC on the CPU, all memory timings are standard. my OC is a simple multiplier slider in bios, voltages are left as standard, its a wierd one and i cant find any info of anyone having the same problem with this combo of CPU/motherboard. like i said 100% stable not a single error

Well, I guess you do have to do your search on the internet... unless someone here has those exact coolers with that exact CPU...

might just water cool the 2500k and oc it to 4.5ghz reseat everything

I've built a hand full of i5 Z77 machines with and with out sli. I must say that combo runs really good. the sli was flawless. save some money use the i5.

Sometimes, when the memory is pushed too hard, the system would not post/start let's say after an overnight off (it cools down - cold bug)... then after couple try, it suddenly would be back to normal (because it's warmed up)...

Are you running your RAM at the settings (timings and voltage) shown on the sticker?

yes running at all setting on sticker it is cas9 which is stickered as 9 9 9 24 at 1.50v
