Hi,
1st of all i apologize for my english and hope my topic will be understandable.
I overclocked my i5 6600k on Maximus VIII ranger. I reached 4.2 Ghz for 1.21V in adaptative voltage. After doing some monitoring and stress test i figured my voltage was always at 1.21V (during stress and while doing nothing).
I found the reason : My windows 7 performance mode is automaticaly set to "High performance", so my CPU is always at Max Clock frequency and max voltage. My adaptative voltage is then useless...
I turned my Windows 7 performance mode to "Balanced" and it works fine.
Now here is my issue : When i launch any stress test, or launch any game, my windows 7 performance mode automaticaly switch back to "High Performance", and when i stop my game / stress test, it stays on "High performance", so my voltage / freq stays at the highest values.
After having done few researches on the web i think automatic power setting switch (auto High perf) is due to BIOS setting.
Any idea which BIOS setting i need to turn on/off to avoid this automatic switch (windows power setting "High performance mode") when i launch a game ?
