win7 refresh/re-install problem on Asus G71g

Hello all

I've a question about refeshing/re-installing win7.

I think I messed up. I was having issues with win7 on the Asus G71g notebook. I determined that win7 was corrupted mainly because of a message on the right bottom of the screen which states that my copy of win7 wasn't valid. Ugh. there were other things going on with it, like won't let me save with message saying "file full" when its not; also internet connection problems with firefox (it worked okay with IE; sounds like sabotge to me with respect to firefox).

I had the G71g recovery media disk, I figured that it would refresh/reinstall win7. I should've asked first. I after I ran this disk; I lost every thing. It re-installing stuff on C: drive, but it wiped out the contents of Drive D:. I think I messed up by pressing the 3rd key where it says 2 partitions; on hard drive.

Can this re-install be undone? if so how?

I kinda hopeing this is not a total loss as I do have a seagate portable drive that failed 2 months ago and have not yet sent it back to seagate for a new one. It has data on it, but don't know how much of that is recoveable. I'm hoping it would keep my losses to a minimum.:(
