Win Install with X.M.P. enabled

Gnarly

I am using a 16gb 2400 mhz kit (G Skill) while trying to do a fresh Windows 7 install. I am having some real strange issues. Setting it at any speed with X.M.P.

I am about to just install the OS at 1600mhz without X.M.P. (1600 is what is listed on the main BIOS page as my RAM's actual speed; BTW- I wonder why it wouldn't be listed as 1866 mhz as this is the max that is recognizable with a Rampage IV).

Also, not related, has anyone used the first 6gbs SATA port for a Blueray burner or other non-storage device?. I have no room on any ports as I have a large raid array.

TIA

Hello

may I ask what are you actually using ram wise. As you post says 16GB but your sig says 24GB which is it?

Blueray burner in sata ports? Which port is the first one for you? If you mean the Asmedia ones then yes no problem at all. I am assuming you have used all the Intel ports for your RAID.

1600MHz is the default standard from Intel. Stock setting if you prefer.

And could you list your strange issues since I am unable to determine what assistance to provide based on the current details. 🙂

Hi HiVizMan-

I managed to get windows installed! I just kept xmp off and hat ram set to 1600mhz. all was just fine. I forgot to change my RAM specs in this peofile. I am now running 1 16gb kit at 2400mhz (G.SKILL F3-19200CL11Q-16GBZHD). I am know trying to figure a solution to my next issue which i posted above. lol.

Thanks Buddy

your blue-ray will work just fine in the "other" 6GBs ports. Just make sure you install the drivers for it when you install windows. Im assuming your talking about the ASMedia ports.....?

-ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
-Intel i7-3930k @4.42GHz
-16GB CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 2133MHz
-Corsair Force Series GT SSD 240GB
- 2x 3TB WD Caviar Black (RAID 1)
- XFX ProSeries 1250W PSU
-3x ASUS VE248Q 24" Monitor
- 2x XFX 7970R
- Xigmatek Elysium Black Case
- CORSAIR H100 CPU Cooler
- Logitech G500 Mouse

Yes. Not the Intel all used for RAID.

Thanks!

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Had some family stuff to manage - kids take heaps of time.

Yeah I use the non-Intel ports for my optical drives with no problems.
