Your thread got me thinking.
My system takes around 34 seconds to boot:
6s - button to beep
4s - beep to ROG wallpaper
4s - ROG wallpaper to Windows flag
8s - Windows flag to lock screen
8s - typing password
4s - entering password to Desktop (clicking on the Desktop tile which shows instantly, then waiting for "Working in background" pointer to change to "Normal select" pointer)
around 38 seconds to reboot:
10s - restart button to beep
and around 4 seconds to shutdown.
This means it takes around 14 seconds for BIOS to let Windows 8 start booting, and it takes Windows 8 12 seconds (without me typing the password) to let me online.
BIOS:
- RAID is turned on, that requires a few seconds
- Fast Boot is enabled and USB support is set to Partial Initialization
- POST Delay Time is set to 1 second
- CSM is Enabled since when disabled to fully support the Windows Security Boot feature it gives a message saying "the VGA card is not supported by UEFI driver"
Windows 8:
- clean installed on wiped disks
- the latest drivers
- all the updates
- minimum set of software (Office 2013, Adobe Reader and a few small utilities)
- some unneeded services disabled (like Print Spooler)
- some start-up programs disabled (like Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager)
- deleated temporary files and system restore points
- SSD defragmented (trimmed)
- Windows Defender is the only antivirus running
In Task Manager, everything looks OK, 50 processes, 1,5GB memory in use. It also shows last BIOS time was 12.8 seconds.
I also find booting slower than expected. Any ideas?
