when idle @ 1600mhz my volttage won't go down...

I think i need to create another thread, can you help please , i just push my system to 4.2 ghz @ 1.162 volts , i just manually change the multiplier and voltage , i run it stable for 2 hours using prime95, but my problem is my voltage wont go down when idle. can you help what i'm goin' to change in the BIOS.

Crucial 4x4gb

all i do is manually change the voltage to 1.16, and manually change the multiplier.

no , i did not do anything in windows a fresh install.

I think MarshallR might have meant power savings settings in BIOS, not Windows.

Manually setting the voltage will cause it to run at that voltage no matter how fast the CPU runs. To have it change with the CPU using offset will be needed. Follow this guide http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?2162-Overclocking-Using-Offset-Mode-for-CPU-Core-Voltage&co...

BIOS power savings settings (I think I haven't missed any):
- Extreme Tweaker: EPU Power Saving Mode
- Extreme Tweaker: EPU Settings
- Extreme Tweaker -> CPU Power Management
- Extreme Tweaker -> DIGI+ Power Control
- Advanced -> CPU Configuration -> CPU Power Management Configuration
- Advanced -> APM: ErP Ready

Check if all (maybe except ErP) are Auto or Enabled.

I changed my multiplier and voltage values to yours (well, my accepted 1.165 instead of 1.162) and, in my case, when CPU idles, voltage does go down, to 1.144.
