Voltage Question

Hi Chaps

I currently have my 6700k@4.6Ghz. (asus maximus vii hero).
I have set my CPU voltage to 1.340 in the bios, however CPUID HW monitor and CPU-Z show it as a lot higher.
When the CPU is underload (stress test) it is well over the 1.340V that I set in the bios.

I want to get 4.8Ghz, but I am worried about these voltage readings. Also what sort of voltages are you guys appling to achieve 4.8Ghz?

Did you enable LLC? With LLC on the voltage gap should be a lot closer.

Anyways there's always chance for software to have incorrect voltage reading that's why I use multimeter to get the exact voltage and it's the only way to make sure the voltage readings are 100% correct for idle or load.

You should use offset mode to have more accurate voltages.

Here's a good reference guide done by Raja that you can have a look at:

Which version BIOS is the motherboard running? And which type of voltage are you using to overclock? Normal, Adaptive or Offset?

BIOS Version is 1302x64
Voltage type is Manual Mode

LLC is set to auto. There are 8 options 1 to 8, which one should I choose?

Completely new to Asus BTW 🙂

Try setting LLC to 5 and see how it works for you.

Thanks I will give it a go.
I noticed that you got your 6700K to 4.8Ghz. What settings are you using?

4.8GHz@ 1.43v with LLC at level 5.

Nice mine wasnt stable at that speed. Would have to pump the voltage up, and not comfortable. As unsure of max Voltage for these chips?

With an LLC profile set. Will the Vcore still drop when CPU is not under load?

Most say not to exceed 1.45v on a 24/7 stable system.

Yes it will drop, LLC only kicks in when the CPU is under load.

Cool thanks for you help guys. Back to the BIOS!
