First off, hi everybody and thanks for participating. My first custom build, OC, and WC setup has gone smoothly and all my thanks belongs to you guys in the enthusiast community who ask and answer questions on these forums. I will never buy a preconfigured Windows system again that's for sure. So stoked on my new rig.
To business:
Followed J.J.'s x79 instructional video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx2z07sFM2IPart I'm talking about is at 23:00 in. I have one hot core keeping me from a Prime95 stable 4.8 OC. I want to turn down that core's multiplier.
Am I completely misunderstanding what this is for? So far on a couple other forums I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because people have either never heard of this or say it is impossible. Intel's own site says the turbo ratio is always the same across all cores.
When I try to set per core numbers, whether all the same or different for diff cores - when I boot into Windows my turbo is maxed at 3.6ghz. Weird huh? I found one other guy with this problem online, but no solution. He was using a different Asus board but same CPU.
Thoughts?
Thanks again.
