The upcoming DC2 and Matrix cards unlocked?

I spoke to Dart about this just now..

Is the new cards going to work for us that use the cards for benchmarking?

In the past, the cards are almost made fool proof, and many attempts in trying to unlock them didnt work?

The Hotwire function we can dismiss, since you need to physically remove a resistor on the card in order to adjust the voltages ( to put it simple ), and by doing so the warranty is void, and a great risk of damaging the card permanently in the process.

Are there any steps taken from Asus, to make life a little more simplified for us overclockers in the upcoming models?

Or is the upcoming cards still to be associated with clams.....

The Rampage boards are unlocked..

Please share your opinions regarding this topic..

The future is about overclocking......time to establish a more contemporary way of development?

I would like it to happen, is it going to happen well I do not know. I use a bios that unlocks the current crop of reference cards to 2.2 volts on the core and have special GPU tweak that allows me to use it. Only to find that I get better OC ing using the stock bios when on LN2 so go figure that one out.

Parable....

lets say BWM releases a new model, with twin turbo (700 hp), the fancy painting, speed stripes, sport interior, and race spoiler and stuff, even a bracket between the front seats, for a NOS bottle..

But BWM couldn't cope with the heat that the motor produced, so they added a rpm limiter..

The model is limited to 90 mph..

end of parable.

The 7970 Matrix cards are pretty much unlocked, 1,4V on the core and that's more than enough for air/water. And with the hotwire you can up the voltage even more. No soldering or anything like that needed. The hotwire is not really needed unless you're running extreme cooling.

My 7970 DC2 Top is also unlocked, 1,4V on core(with the correct version of gpu tweak) but I cant adjust mem voltage for some reason. This card requires soldering for hotwire though. Might try that if I'm feeling lucky with my soldering skills, that would give me control over mem voltage.

And I hear the "new" 280X DCU cards have voltage control up to 1,3V. A step in the right direction.

I think the 290 cards will become beasts on water, seeing people running them at 1150Mhz with aftermarket air coolers. Might just get me a 290, I want one even more since finding out they can be unlocked to 290X.. hmm 🙂
