Don't know if it's the best but if you have any Logitech devices, I use the ARX app. It shows GPU, CPU Temps and other useful stats like individual core usage, GPU mem available, utilization, etc.. and displays it on my phone or ipad so I can keep an eye on temps while fullscreen gaming.

Personally, I just use the Asus Gaming Center readings. I don't need any more detail. If there were issues with the laptop I might dig further though. The Gaming Center gives you your CPU and GPU temps at a glance.

small footprint: Core Temp (does the job)
medium foorprint: HWinfo (everything in a small package)
big footprint: AIDA64 (adjustable like no other. But temps are just a small part of the software)
