SLI question

Hi again 🙂

So moved my board into a H440 gave it a nice new Kraken cooler and a gtx970 but have a question.

Will the G30ab board support SLI, it has crossfire embossed on the board but not sure if it supports SLI. Have just bought a second 970 and thought I would check, going to buy a new board next month anyway but was hoping it did 🙂

Cheers
Rob

What were the specs of the original PC....did it have an AMD GPU? Maybe that's why it says crossfire not SLI. For SLI you need two x8 lanes. Looking at specs it seems it has a x16 or x8x8 config. Get a flashlight and start counting pins in PCIe lanes...

More important is does the PSU size/current rating support SLI?

Hi thanks for the replies,

Original spec was i5 4670k, 8gb, Gtx 650. The only original parts of the machine is the motherboard and CPU. Will have a look at the board again in a min, as for the psu I am using a corsair 750 cmx.

Just ran Aida64
Expansion Slots 1 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x4, 1 PCI-E x8, 1 PCI-E x16

will it work with a pci-e 16 + PCI-e 8, I think the 8 is shared with the 16?

Cheers

Hi,

Have done, any application I use CPU-Z, Aida64 etc all report the motherboard model as:
Mainboard Model G30AB (0x0000012D - 0x00026CA0)

I see.

Since you've moved the motherboard into the new case, see if the model's on the motherboard itself. If not, take a picture and I'l see what I can do.
