Hello,
I have stalked the forums for a while and you guys sure can build some nice rigs. I built this one a few months back and about broke the bank. Now I just need to find myself an addicting game. Still looking for that Ultima Online or Counterstrike feeling to come back. Although I am excited about Star Citizen. Well enough of the jibber jabber and on with the specs.
I call her Cyborg Vanna White because I wanted something that was sexy but still classy 😜
I7-4790k CPU
ASUS Sabertooth Z97
SLI 770GTX's
2x Samsung 840 Evo's 250g in raid0
16g Corsair Vengeance
Model M IBM Keyboard
ASUS VX238h 23inch Monitor
NZXT h440 case
Bitfenix Spectre Pro Fans
Razor tapian mouse
I-2 steel series mouse pad
Astro a40 headset and dac
The cpu is overclocked to 4.5GHZ using a thermaltake water 3.0. I wish I went with the Kraken and maybe hit 4.6 stable. I painted the sabertooth armor white and absolutely love the clean look of the board. I am running two 770gtx's in sli with an evga bridge that I also painted white along with the cases. I added two 840 evo's in raid zero and cannot wait to get my hands on the new ASUS esata hard drive. Kind of wish I went with dominator ram and painted the sinks. I added an arctic ram cooler to the vengeance 2x8g sticks (Think the ram cooler is a bit cheesy but eh). The model M keyboard is a Frankenstein of a 1987 and a 1993 trackpoint. I took the keys and graphics from the trackpoint and painted the keyboard case white. I have a vinyl cutter that I used to add all of my graphics. I bought the white monitor not realizing it didn’t have a bracket mount… Luckily it popped apart pretty easily and was able to attach it to the ICW mount. The Arm that the computer sits on was made by ICW and it’s the same kind you will find in your doctor’s office. I welded the shelf and the stanchion. I cheated with the cables and bought extensions along with lutroo cable combs. The hardest part was finding an old I-2/Icemat. I am guessing that glass and raging doesn’t mix very well. That’s all for now if you want to know anything about myself or the build ask away. Seem like a pretty cool community and I guess it’s about time I joined one.

I have been following this site for about two years. I have cured many issues with all of your help. This will be my first post but not my last 🙂 Here is my system. Currently running 4 cores @ 4.8GHz @ 1.268v, cache 4.5GHz @ 1.250v, VCCIN 1.778v, XMP 1866 9-10-9-27. I am working on getting a 1:1 ratio. I booted 4.9 and 5.0GHz under 1.30v but it was not stable and its comfort range is 4.8. I will try to hit 5.0 stable down the road sometime after I get 1:1 ratio @ 4.8GHz. At least that is my goal. First time I have had a chip that will clock decently. I had 4770k which I got to 4.5GHz @ 1.34 stable but couldn't for the life of me get it anywhere near stable @ 4.6GHz. I delidded this new 4790k once I knew it would clock well. I am seeing 18-22C difference in Temps. Not one stress test but IBT has put CPU temps above 62C @ 100% load for 8 hours. Using Liquid Ultra for delid. 10 Passes of IBT got temps to 74C, but nothing in my opinion stresses CPU more than IBT. Prime, Aida, OCCT, IXT all stayed around 58-59C @ full load with IXT the only one to hit 62C. I am happy with these results. My issue is that last few rigs Ive built have been specifically for gaming but I have not done any gaming in last two years. Maybe 10 hours total. I end up spending hour after hour just screwing around with my overclocks and temps. Oh well, I am ok with it.

System Specs:

CM Glacer 240L
Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1866
Corsair ax860 PSU
Corsair custom cables
2x Samsung 250gb 840evo Raid 0
Asus Blu-Ray RW
Radeon R9 290x w/ NZXT Kraken G10, Corsair H90....(Fried first 290x because of adequate VRM cooling. Took care of that with Gelid VRM cooling kit, and copper heatsinks)

Just waiting on the Swifttech 220x - CPU cooler. I'm going to be water cooling this puppy next year so we'll start with that. Also I'm waiting delivery on some LED strips and the Corsair Dominator Lighting Nodes, then we'll be blinging along. 🙂 The Monitor is awesome by the way and with the 980.. wow.... So very happy with it. More pix after it is lit up.

*Note* the Velociraptor was a hand me down from my last computer and I'm using it mainly for some quick file swapping between computers on my network, that way I'm not burning out my SSDs.
