ROG Strix Gaming D4 : GSkill 4266 mhz memory - pc unstable

Saldo
Level 7
Hi all,

Just finished building a new pc.
The GSkill Ripjaws are 2x 16Gb 4266 mhz cas 16.*
According to the QVL this memory should work.

I start with default settings - go to AI tweaker and set XMP 1.
I manually set memory speed to 4266 MHz.

When being in a game like MSFS 2020 and I do nothing, within 10 minutes the pc hangs.
I tried 4200 MHz and also 4000 MHz.

Graphics card : RTX 3090
PS : 1000 W stabilized
Liquid cooling system EKWB
12900K cpu
2 TB M2

I bought this mobo as it was able to run this memory at the default speed.

All help and advices are welcome.*

Hello,

As with all things overclocking related XMP is not guaranteed to work plug & play and your mileage may vary depending on the CPU.

Check within the UEFI what VCCSA (System Agent) is being applied by the auto scaling, then increase this value and see if the instability desists.
If the CPU Cores or Cache are overclocked, remove this for the time being also.

Check memory stablity with Karhu Ram Test as this will flag any instability faster than gaming.
