Not sure if I am up to date or what was changed in the update but the tool linked on the Front Bases support page is missing the .h00 file (firmware) to update it.

Link is here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/Tool_Win7-8-8-1_VER1033.zip

Visit here and select Win 8.1 64 bit and look under utilities: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG_Front_Base/HelpDesk_Download/

Here is a screenshot of said utility:

Was this released in error? Is this just the utility to update the firmware, and there are in fact no updates?

My unit has exhibited no problems; I just am curious as to what this is and why it's missing the actual firmware.

Thanks!

Hi, you can use this new driver V1.01.05 with firmware V40, provided by Raja@ASUS on the other thread: https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/s/E12551DE5D834B59917C15349CEED8B14
It contains driver, flash utility, new FW and flash guide, it should be all you need to upgrade it.

Did you connect the Front Base just to USB using Q-connector? Not directly to ROG_EXT header? This looks like its connected to ROG_EXT and its not recognized as "WonderBox" (I hope I remember it right). If its connected throught Q-connector, try different mobo USB header.
