RIVA Chasis/OPT Fan Problem

I am having a problem controlling the fan speeds of my fans that I connect to the CHA or OPT fan headers (CPU and CPU OPT works fine).

I have 12 fans on my case (3x480 rads), I have 3 of these : http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14982/cab-627/EK_4-Pin_PWM_4-Way_Splitter_Cable_-_Sleeved_Black_Bl....

Therefore, as far as RIVA is concerned, I got 3 of the 4 pin fan connectors. 2 of these are connected to CPU and CPU OPT, they work great. The 3rd one is however always runs at max speed, it doesn't matter if I connect it to CHA 1 2 3 or OPT 1 2 3. What am I doing wrong?

I am really frustrated, this is a $429 board.

On my board (crosshair v)if I leave OPT (PWM) fan controls at disabled my fans always work at 100% when plugged into those ports. If thats what your trying to do

Are you trying to pwm control the chassie fans? or the opt fans?

it would be way more easy if you told us

Take the pwm signal from the cpu_fan header..

Or get a pwm fan controller?

You cant use the opt and chassie fans as cpu_fan, and want them to adjust after cpu temp..

You can connect a temp prob to one of the opt fan header, and having that header temp controlled.. Stick the probe into the rad or something

pwr_fan> constant 12v feed
Cpu_ fan> cpu temp controlled
Opt-cpufan> optional cpu fan, it tag along with cpu_fan
Chassi fan> For using chassi fans, can be duty controlled and via profiles
Opt fans> Optional fans, can be used everywhere, and for having them adjust to the temp, you need a temp probe. else they can be adjusted via duty, and profiles also

i told you this already?

Or get a pwm fan controller....

My conclusion is that the CHA and OPT headers do NOT work in PWM mode. They work in DC mode only. That's why when I plug in a 4 pin cable with only 2 cables (yellow and blue) for PWM it doesn't work, but it does so with a 3 pin cable.

You CAN actually have chasis fans work based on a temperature in fanX software, I was thinking that would be the CPU temp. But regardless, as long as they dont spin at 100%, I dont care.

As I mentioned earlier the cable is not drawing any power from the board it has a 4 pin molex that is directly connected to psu. I have tried connecting the cable to cpu or cpu opt headers and it works so the cable is fine.

If however I use a 3 pin splitter which is a simple y splitter which draws the power from the board things work. So to me this looks like the 4 pin headers for cha and opt are really useless as they dont run in pwm mode but just dc mode.

Please have a look at my first post and links to the cables I am using and it will make sense.
