Hi everyone. My RIVE is around 1 year old, it originally had stability problems and was RMA'd from my local retailer to ASUS who found a fault and repaired it. Even so my system has never been fully stable with this motherboard cpu combo. What happens is at random times, usually after the computer has been running for several hours, it will hard freeze. By that I mean everything is still displayed on screen but nothing works and the reset button is the only option. There are no blue screens or anything like that.
When it locks up, anything that is USB powered will shut off like you have pulled the device's plug out from the computer and when the reset button is pressed the computer will power down and then turn on again. This happens even with everything set at default or auto in the BIOS, RAM clocked at 1333 and has happened on all BIOS versions.
My CPU is a 3820, I am using 8gb (4x2) corsair RAM 1600MHz and the power supply is a Corsair HX850. Memtest86 always shows the RAM has no problems and the system will run IBT, prime95 and even furmark with no problems until the usual lockup happens. This has been ongoing basically since I got the board and is very hard to test because at times it may take 12 or 13 hours for the lockup to happen and I can't always run it for that long.
Anyone got any ideas?
