Rampage IV extreme & i7-3970, best RAM?

Guys,

Currently have 32GB in there, corsiar vengeance 1600Mhz

Asus GTX690-4GD5 video card.

Is that the best memory for my setup? Suggestions please?

I'm a gamert btw, BF4.

well day to day use = no diffrence in performance. ( even gaming )
rendering heavy memory program use mabye 2133 or 2400 ( IF the CPU can handle it )

Yep! kkn is of course right....gaming will not see more that the slightest of slightest improvements from another RAM kit. That said and if you want to upgrade...because lets face it that's half the fun....you could get some Dominator Platinums or some Ripjaws Z (black kits are best)

Remember frequency is nothing without tight timings so look for 2133 Cas9 or 2400 cas 10 that sort of thing...

16GB is more than enough unless you regularly use RAMdisks etc. personally I'd prefer higher frequency fast timings and 16GB than more RAM at slower frequency and looser timings...

Heh sorry Crasje...sometimes so used to stuff you forget someone else might not have seen that..

CAS number is part of the timings for the RAM...you know how kits come with numbers 2400MHz 9-11-10-31 for example...

well CAS is the first number in that row 9 in that case.

There is a formula that can help you in deciding if one kit is faster than the other when the timings are taken into account.

(CAS/frequency) x 2000 gives you a number in nanoseconds for comparing speeds.

Say you see a 1600 kit at 7-8-7-20 and a 1866 kit at 9-10-9-28 which is faster?
Well 7/1600 x 2000 = 8.75 nanoseconds; 9/1866 x 2000 = 9.646 so the 1600 kit actually looks quicker.

If these numbers are close or the same choose the higher frequency it will be more efficient.
