RAM Voltages

I am attempting to tighten the timings of my Corsair Vengeance 8gb PC312800 9-9-9-24-2T to 8-8-8-24-2T. I set the voltage to 1.55v, yet I got a BSOD soon after booting into Windows. Can someone help me? My board is a Maximus IV Gene-Z with a 2500K CPU.

Actually with SB raw ram speed will give you far more gains than latency

Oh, well then I'll try 1866, at least I can relax timings a little if it's unstable.

RAM passed all 8 tests perfectly at XMP....

Right that is progress at least. XMP profile is what your ram are rated for and specced for. So at least we know you did get what you paid for. And further that your ram are not defective.

Moving on.

If the RAM is able to pass memtest at the XMP profile but fails when you attempt to tighten the ram timings, then the logical conclusion is that your Corsair ram cannot operate at those tightened latencies at the voltages you have used.

Not all products are the same, even when they are the same models. It just might be that you have ram that will not clock. I suspect that it is possible one stick that will not clock. Run memtest one stick at a time with the tighter timings and see if any of the sticks are able to pass.

If no - then sadly it does seem your ram will not clock as you had hoped.

So, is my only OC route 1866mhz? Or could I increase voltage and run MemTest again and see if it is stable? If I can, what voltages do I adjust?

rogb055 do me a favour it sounds that your BIOS is a touch corrupted. Do a reflash of your BIOS please.

Okay, I'll do that when I get home from school. I just read the manual, and I don't get Crashfree BIOS 3...
