RAM Voltages

I am attempting to tighten the timings of my Corsair Vengeance 8gb PC312800 9-9-9-24-2T to 8-8-8-24-2T. I set the voltage to 1.55v, yet I got a BSOD soon after booting into Windows. Can someone help me? My board is a Maximus IV Gene-Z with a 2500K CPU.

Ran MemTest at 8-9-9-24 @1.5 and 1.65v, got nothing but errors, same with 8-9-9-26 1.5v...should I swap out my Vengeance RAM? Or am I doing something wrong? Memtest is running w/ 8-9-9-26 1.5v

At these tightened timings errors were from the get go.

Enable your XMP profile and run memtest again.

Please post at which point in the test itself the ram errors. Memtest

Thank you.

Thank you - fails from test one. If you ram are not able to pass the very first test or fail any of the tests in Memtest then your ram is faulty.

Did you run the test for each individual stick one at a time?

Did you run the test in the same ram slot on your board? Or, did you try all the slots?

Are you able to run memtest on another motherboard and check if it is the ram or the ram slots.

Thanks for you patience.

I don't have any other boards.
Also, what should I do if my ram passes all eight tests at XMP, where do I start tweaking?

Did 1 DIMM, got an error at test 4

You did one dimm at the tighter timings and failed test 4.

Have I understood correctly. If yes, that means your ram will not run the settings you wish to use. But that your ram will and does run the XMP profile (spec) that they are rated for.

I went with tighter timings first because lowering the CAS is a better performance increase than 1866mhz

Actually with SB raw ram speed will give you far more gains than latency
