Ram in Bios

Hi all
I have the maximus v formula board and recently swapped out to bios 1903. I am runniing g skill sniper ram 1866 but when I try and get into bios and change it to xmp mode the computer shuts down and turns on for 2 seconds then turns off again. It keeps doing this. I have to manually shut computer off and I get the screen saying bios settings are not right. The sniper rem is xmp rated I thought. Is it an issue with the bios flash I did. I did do a cmos and it didnt help. Any ideas
thanks

Ok, now when overclocking it is trial and error so we might get a blue screen or 2 and you can expect this until we find stability. Let's try 4.3 GHz. first. Go to extreme tweaker tab, AI Overclock tuner to manual, make sure BCLk is at 100, set the cpu core ratio to 43 and cpu core voltage to 1.3v. check your cpu target speed and see that it says 4300 MHz. Hit F10 and Enter.

ok ran prime 95 small fet test and averaged 62c after ten min. What steps do you take first. core ratio up or voltage up ?

Temp is excellent you did a good job mounting the H100i water block. Did you get any errors while running prime95?

none at all. I ended up cleaning off the cpu and the water block and using artic sliver 5 that I had from when I first built this computer a year ago. Just didnt wanna trust the factory thermal paste. I know I should run prime 95 for a lot longer but my next step is ratio up to 44 for all cores and leave voltage at 1.3? If I get a blue screen do I increase the voltage? Computer is running nice right now but want to mess around with it later. Getting to late for me here so maybe I can bounce a few questions off you later if you dont mind?

Ok, yes just up the cpu core ratio to 44 and let the cpu voltage at 1.3v. If you get the blue screen on start up, upthe cpu core voltage to say 1.32v. Good job removing the pre applied thermal compound and using arctic silver 5. This will definitely help with lower temperatures. One more thing you can set the vcssa to auto. You really only need to increase that for 2400MHz. RAM and above. Increasing vcssa voltage will also contribute to higher cpu temps. Sure, we can continue later and you can ask all the questions you want. Hopefully, I will be able to answer them all for you. If not there are a lot of people here that know way more about this than I do that can.

tries prime 95 at 4.7 at 1.25 and it ran for a bit then stopped 2 threads?? It passed the intel burn on very high though so not sure what I might change next. Is it a voltage increase needed or is 4.6 my max

Ok yep, you need a little more cpu core voltage, Man I have to say that is quite impressive, Try cpu core voltage 1.30v for 4.7 Ghz. Run prime95 and monitor cpu temps. If you can do that with no errors, you have an awesome 3770k.

Ok ran it at 4.7 at 1.265. average high temp after half hour was 79 but one of the cores spiked at 85 for a second then came back down but it was between 79 and 82 for the rest of the test. All passed on prime 95. Does more voltage add more temps? correct? Is delidding an option or is it not going to be worth it?

No, I wouldn't recommend delidding your cpu it will void the warranty and you should have a 3 year warranty. That is perfect drop4205. I would be happy with that. Now, when you play a game run real temp and when you are done, check what the maximum temperature shows. I bet it won't be any higher than 70c.
