Ram in Bios

Hi all
I have the maximus v formula board and recently swapped out to bios 1903. I am runniing g skill sniper ram 1866 but when I try and get into bios and change it to xmp mode the computer shuts down and turns on for 2 seconds then turns off again. It keeps doing this. I have to manually shut computer off and I get the screen saying bios settings are not right. The sniper rem is xmp rated I thought. Is it an issue with the bios flash I did. I did do a cmos and it didnt help. Any ideas
thanks

oh i c. Im very new to this kinda thing sorry. I am wondering if you have used the exchange and tried out other peoples overclocks. If for some reason they dont work out is it as simple as me going back into bios and hit restore to last saved profile

Thanks. I am kinda new to this sorta stuff. Have any of you downloaded any rog exchange profiles. Are they safe to try. I mean can i go back into bios and undo the downloaded overclock easy if it doenst work out. I have run all the test on my system so far. Prime 98, Intel burn, Memtest, Heaven. all run fine at my 3.9

Hi drop4205, Before overclocking your cpu can I ask what cpu cooler you have?

I just installed a corsair h100i on it sunday

That is one of the best all in one coolers available. Good choice. If you want to overclock your cpu I would suggest doing it manually like your RAM. The cpu level up can add more voltage than what is needed. It is easy to overclock your cpu manually. With your cooler you should be able to hit 4.5-4.6 GHz. with acceptable temperatures. Would you like to try?

i have real temp that i monitor with and rog cpu-z

I def wanna try but not sure the best way to go about doing it. Do i got to cpu level up and click 4.6 or are there other steps to take first.

As I said do not use the cpu level up option. I will show you how to do it manually and it is very easy. But first, do you have a cpu temperature monitoring program?

lets do it

Excellent, cpu temperature controls how far you will be able to overclock. We want to see 80c or below at all times. Increasing the cpu core voltage is what creates more heat but is needed to maintain stability when raising the cpu speed. Are you ready to try?
