Hey!
First time poster! This has been my first ROG Build and in general has went pretty flawlessly. What I'm currently planning on doing is buying a Samsung NVME M.2 PCIE SSD and changing my other two SSDs (Samsung 850 Pro and 840 EVO) to my Data drives which would hold my games and files which I generally have no issue losing (The 850 Pro is my current OS Drive).
Can I Install Windows 10 normally to my M.2 SSD (Heard it can be a hassle from a lot of forums) then go ahead and change to RAID and change my 850 and 840 to RAID 0 Drives but continue to use my M.2 as Normal? I know I need to change the SSDs to RAID but would that have any effect on my M.2 which would have the OS?
Also anyone tried using an M.2 SSD on a Asus Rampage V Extreme board? Does it do anything to the PCIE Slots? Seen a few posts from people using different mobos saying that they have had issues with Graphics cards getting slower data speeds as the M.2 Port takes from that as I believe it is PCIE x 4 on the R5E? My Current GPUs both use the PCIE 16x Slots that are available. If it slows them down it seems like its not worth it in my opinion.
By no means an expert on RAID or M.2 for that instance so please bare that in mind 🙂
Kind regards,
Greig
Side note.. Anyone have any information on SATA Express or has that been pushed to the side with PCIE Drives? Can't seem to find anywhere which sells SATA Express drives 😕
