PSU Question, over one year later Rampage IV Gene coming up with 'OC Failed!'

Kind of new to the overclocking thing, done some O'c but very basic stuff in the past.

My rig at the moment (also in my sig)
Is a Rampage iv Gene with an i7 3820 16GB G.SKill Ripjaws, Asus GTX560 Ti DCII, Crucial M4 SSD, Seagate 500GB 7200 Sata II and a couple of Audio cards (one for mixing, one for production) - I can of course provide more info (12 hour work day means I may have missed a few things!). Been O'c CPU at 3800, ram at 2133 on Win7 Ultimate

- and I know this may seem idiotic to some of the more experienced overclockers here but bear with me please -

On a 650W Coolermaster PSU.

Over the last few weeks (there has been a bit of a heatwave here in the uk btw), it seems to be coming up with 'Overclocking Failed!' every two or three times I turn it on, but runs just fine after I simply go into BIOS and save the settings I already had.

I just knocked the CPU down to 3600 to see what happens, all onboard stuff, audio, Lan etc are off as I don't use them

Gaming performance is just fine, as is music production and mixing on fairly juicy programs. Had this rig set up as above for about a year now without issue.

Anyone fancy giving me a few pointers on how to get this lil puppy up and running ok again?

Cheers 🙂

I just went back to it now, and I'm just making sure there arent a few processes I dont need that I can disable in Win7, not sure if it'll make a huge difference or not I will admit.

Thing is, its quite hard to pinpoint, the message doesn't always show up, sometimes it boots up straight away without issue, given I'm a bit green in this game I'm not really sure what to look for :$

I'll throw a quick reboot and come back with the results in a couple of minutes, thanks for the reply by the way 🙂

Ok after a slightly arduous few minutes, it went straight into OC Failed, but at the same time, for somereason my processor was clocked at 4300 when I jumped into BIOS (???) - I just set it to what I used to have it as - 3800 for the processor, 2133 for the Ram.

It went to Windows just though it neglected to beep, at all. Only seems to beep when OC fails for some reason...

Please go into your BIOS to load the optimized defaults. Save and shutdown your system. Then proceed to clearing the CMOS. Power up your system once again and go into the BIOS to load the optimized defaults again.

Is your CPU back to its default speed now while in the BIOS? Also recheck it while you're in Windows using CPU-Z.

What I am quite interested in seeing is what your cooling solution is.

The heat in the UK has pushed up the ambient by over 10'C and that might just have been enough to tip your system.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.
