Problems with X870e Hero motherboard and EXPO profiles

Hi! I made a video of the problem im experiencing and a temporary fix. Maybe someone will find this post useful,  I hope someone from ASUS sees this and updates the BIOS with these fixes or provides some technical support in the comments below. Its very frustrating dealing with this and this is not the first time im having issues with asus motherboards. Thank you, please watch the video.   https://youtu.be/H8FdNK10H2w?feature=shared

Hello @Khaledalshafi

Thank you for your response. After once again reviewing the entire discussion thread and related replies, I would like to clarify the following:
The original post discussed a scenario where QVL-listed memory was installed and EXPO overclocking settings were enabled.
In this case, toggling the Memory Context Restore option (enabled or disabled) was necessary to boot into the system, but the overclocking settings were applied correctly. Without toggling Memory Context Restore, the system would fail to recognize the boot drive and could not boot.
And our engineers conducted similar tests but were unable to replicate the issue.

In your situation, may I confirm if toggling Memory Context Restore (enabled/disabled) allows you to boot into the system and whether the memory performs stably under EXPO settings?
If the issue is simply unstable memory overclocking causing boot failure, we recommend cross-testing with memory listed on the QVL, as your current installed "CMT64GX5M2B6000Z30" is not listed on the ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI QVL.

Thank you.

I'm super interested in this issue. Got a x870e incoming with 2x32GB Neo's.v Using multiple SSDs.

@Zamzon69 I would skip M.2_2  and M.2_3: using these slots disables the second PCI slot and makes the 1st  run in 8x mode. I'm curious what happens if you move that ssd to M.2_4 or M.2_5, which is pci 4.0 anyhow, same like your SSDs.

@CptMario, @A55A1LANT, do you have SSD inM.2_2  and M.2_3? Did you test the suggestions of @Jiaszzz_ROG or test the latest bios 0701 (https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/amd-600-series/x670-resource/m-p/1055351/highlight/true#M7740)

Good luck guys, if you found a fix, please post here. 👍

Well this is very interesting......

I can confirm with the BIOS link posted, I have updated my BIOS from 0606 to 0701, and for ME it seems to be working on EXPOI with my primary drive in M.2_2 and second drive in M.2_4. It won't boot on EXPOII however, but i'm happy that it's at least working on one EXPO profile and boots with the RAMs advertised timings and speeds.

Win!

Where did you find BIOS 0701 I don‘t find it on the official Asus MB driver site?

Okay, but is that an offical Asus BIOS or what?

Of course, latest 606

Okay, I removed the SSD from the M.2_2 slot and used slot 5. I have now also replaced the RAM. I have now bought compatible Corsair RAM (RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6000MHz CL40 (CMT64GX5M2B6000C40)) and inserted it.
And who would have thought it, the problem persists. At least the RAM problem. The SSDs are both running smoothly so far.

If I do not activate a RAM profile, the computer starts up relatively quickly.
However, if I activate a RAM profile, it gets stuck in error code 15 for two minutes at startup and then starts.
The debug LED then jumps back and forth between different values 33,38,40, 34, 41 and so on (it also does this when starting in the default settings!).
Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed to find such glaring errors on a motherboard in this price range. I upgraded from an older generation Hero mainboard to this version and am absolutely disappointed.

This user seems to have a similar issue (same mem): https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/amd-800-series/asus-rog-crosshair-x870e-hero/td-p/1055225

I have the F5-6000J3036G32GX2-TZ5NR variant incoming. Anyone here using this specific mem? Or is everyone using the F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR?

Mayby the expo settings / mem timings are bugged out on the x870e for these 64 GB kits?

There are a couple 2x32GB enhanced memory profiles available in the bios, I wonder what happesn if you choose one of these.

Today we undervolt and overclock the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor up to 5750 MHz. I do this by leveraging asynchronous eCLK to stretch the V/F curve beyond the Precision Boost limit. Of course, that also requires finetuning with the new Curve Shaper. In this video, I break down the Ryzen 7 ...

Hey everyone with similar issues, TheJeroen brings up some good points:

  • Try disabling M.2_2 & M.2_3 slots (conflicts with PCI slots).
  • Test different M.2 slots for the problematic SSD.
  • Check out the enhanced memory profiles in BIOS.

If you're dealing with septic system issues, a drain field installation near me could be a solution.
