Problems with X870e Hero motherboard and EXPO profiles

Hi! I made a video of the problem im experiencing and a temporary fix. Maybe someone will find this post useful,  I hope someone from ASUS sees this and updates the BIOS with these fixes or provides some technical support in the comments below. Its very frustrating dealing with this and this is not the first time im having issues with asus motherboards. Thank you, please watch the video.   https://youtu.be/H8FdNK10H2w?feature=shared

I have assembled a PC for a friend a few days ago with this same MB Asus ROG Strix X870e Hero.

He went for 2 sets of Corsair Vengeance 64GB (2x 32GB) 6000Mts/CL30, so a total of 128GB.

Enabling any Expo profile in the BIOS ended-up with MB LED error 15 stuck and not starting at all, so not even access to the BIOS. Only option is to clear the CMOS and restart. With EXPO disabled, the PC boots up to windows.

We have replaced the RAM with a Corsair Dominator set, same capacity, same specs. Sadly the same experience. The Dominator set is listed in the supported list of this mainboard.

Trying with only one RAM stick (32GB) and EXPO II profile enabled gave a success. Later we added a second stick, so of 2 stick of 32GB also resulted in success with  EXPO II enabled.

All 4 sticks with EXPO II enabled resulted in a failure and the LED error 15 stuck forever (we waited longer than 15min).

We hope that some fix comes soon to allow using the build to the fulliest.

Note: we have placed 2 M.2 SSDs in M.2_4 and M.s_5 slots as suggested by the support team here above.

Running 4x32GB / 128GB at expo speed profiles is considered almost impossible:  I really recommend you search youtube on this topic. It is quite a nuanced and complicated topic, different from what we are discussing here (using 2x32GB).

I bookmarked this thread for my own research on 128GB+ on AM5, really read all the comments, there are many caveats. https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/159xoao/stable_128gb4x32gb_ddr56000_cl30_on_agesa_1007b/

But good to hear your cl30 Vengeance sticks are working as 2x32GB with Expo. It seems there are many issues with the c30 2x32GB Gskill kit, I see many complaints, not just for the Asus/Hero motherboards. Found a Reddit post suggesting 2x c30 32GB  Vengeance dimms after the Neo's failed, so I ordered Corsair Dimms. So happy you can confirm this.

Many thanks for the update.

Just a slight update: we managed only to successfully test the Dominator set of 2x 32GB with Expo II enabled. The Vengeance set has been returned.

Posted this elsewhere, but worth dropping it in here too:
Same issue here, but on the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E Gaming, and with my 9800X3D CPU.
As soon as I try and enable any of the EXPO profiles, or select any RAM speed other than AUTO (I have G.Skill Trident Z5 6000MT/s CL30 64GB kit (2x32) - model: F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR, my PC absolutely refuses to boot.  CMOS reset is the only way to get back into the BIOS.  Very frustrating.  I'll open up my PC and move my SSDs from M.2_2 and M.2_3 and see if this helps.

I'm experiencing the same issue with a 9800X3D, using 2 x 32GB F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5N modules and BIOS version 0606.

Interestingly, when I was on the 9700 with BIOS 0605, the memory worked perfectly. After upgrading to the 9800X3D, it initially worked with EXPO enabled, but after updating to BIOS 0606, the issue seems to have appeared. I plan to test a downgrade to confirm if that resolves it.

Also having this problem but with a slightly different build:
1) Motherboard: Asus Strix x870e-E gaming Wifi
2) 2 sticks of F5-6400J3239G16Gx2-TZ5RK (purchased at microcenter)
3) Ryzen 9800x3D
4) I have 2 NVME drives, but I am avoiding the slots that would cause the GPU to run in x8.   Iam using M2_3 (Socket3) and M2_4(Socket4)

I first tried 4 sticks - Post code 15.
I tried loosening settings and lowering the clock speed of the RAM -- Post code 15
I tried all the EXPO profiles (1/2/tweaked) and the comprehensive bios setting for this -- (i dont recall the name) -  Post code 15.
I tried upgrading the bios to the latest version -- then enabling that same feature -- post code 15.

All in all, this has been about 20-30 seperate attempts -- any setting other than AUTO will seemingly result in a post code 15 which requires the BIOS to be reset.   Also, this ROLLS BACK the BIOS upgrade, which in itself takes quite a long time to complete.

I raised a ticket today.  I'm not sure if this is the case with other vendors, but this is extremely disappointing.   I'm coming from a x570 Aorus Master and had no problems like this ever on that board.

I have the exact same problem on the 870e-Strix with DDR5 6000mhz. Thanks for making this video, I will try it!

And ASUS PLEASE FIX.

According to RD, 1202b has some memory OC issues so fix will be released when ready.

OK, I think the issue may have been with ME in this case.  I just set EXPO I in my BIOS again, but this time I tried to be patient, because every other time after about a minute and a half or two minutes of the PC not booting, I'd power down and reset my CMOS.

This time, however, I waited for 3 minutes (roughly) and my PC booted!  With EXPO I set, and working perfectly in Windows 11 Pro right now!  Patience is key - looks like the 7101 BIOS I'm using now works.

FWIW, my hardware is:
ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU
G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB 64GB DDR5 RAM Kit 2x 32GB - 6000 MT/s - CL30 - 1.4V -
30-40-40-96 - AMD EXPO Optimized (MPN:F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR)
3x M.2 NVME SSDs in Slots 3,4 and 5.

Hope this helps someone.

I had this exact issue with my new build and can confirm that the 0701 BIOS update has solved the issue.
