Hi! I made a video of the problem im experiencing and a temporary fix. Maybe someone will find this post useful, I hope someone from ASUS sees this and updates the BIOS with these fixes or provides some technical support in the comments below. Its very frustrating dealing with this and this is not the first time im having issues with asus motherboards. Thank you, please watch the video. https://youtu.be/H8FdNK10H2w?feature=shared

Hey there,
I have the exact same issue, funnily enough with the exact same part number RAM, running on a x870e-e Strix Board with a 9800x3d. I can confirm with your fix it also works on my board.
Weird hey? Hopefully ASUS addresses this soon with a bios update

Hey! Wow, I kinda knew I wont be the only one with the same or similar issue. I feel a bit better knowing that my fix actually aided someone, I also hope ASUS will come up with the fix asap. If you manage to find a different / permanent fix, please let me know!

@Jiaszzz_ROGhey, sorry for the tag but i really need you to check the video out and maybe try to forward it to the rest of the ASUS crew, hope you have a good weekend!

Hello @CptMario
Thank you for reaching out to us.
To clarify your situation, could you please confirm if the issue occurs specifically when EXPO I/II/Tweaked is enabled? When enabled, does your system boot directly into the BIOS, requiring a toggle of the memory context restore (Enabled/Disabled) setting in order to boot into the OS? Additionally, during this occurrence, does the BIOS fail to detect the boot drive or allow the arrangement of the boot order?
Kindly help us confirm the following details:
1) Did this issue appear right from the initial PC build, or did it occur following any specific software or hardware changes, such as a BIOS update or the addition of a new drive?
2) After clearing CMOS with default BIOS settings—such as without any EXPO or power management adjustments—does the same issue still occur?
3) Are the 990 Pro 1TB and 4TB installed in which two M.2 slots? If you test them in M.2_4 and M.2_5, is the result the same?
Thank you.

Hello,
I can confirm the error. I used the same motherboard (BIOS latest version) with 2x32GB RAM G.Skill Trident F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK (I know that this kit is not on the compatibility list). As soon as I switch on EXPO, one of my NVME SSD (Samsung 980Pro 4TB is no longer recognized (no longer displayed in the BIOS). If I deactivate EXPO it is recognized again.
The SSD that is no longer recognized after activating EXPO is installed in the M.2_2 slot. The other SSD (Samsung 980Pro 2 TB) which is installed in the M.2_1 socket is always recognized regardless of whether EXPO is enabled or disabled.

it seems to be expo memory general. Even with auto. I got some RAM top end with expo, spent two days logically troubleshooting, with every iteration of change….
my CPU is the 9800 X3-D. My bios is the new one starting with seven. I have one SSD that is an M.2_1 it’s an Intel p5800x 😊 💪.
by the way I even tried removing the CMOS for days to see if maybe that might do something it did not
then I popped in my other G gskill top end over the top memory, that is only XMP and within maybe eight seconds it got to bios with a cleared CMOS.
stability test, pass with flying colors… unable to do that on any iteration of speed settings, anything. and that is excluding the sometimes 15 minutes of code 15.

Hello @CptMario
After reviewing your configuration, our engineers were unable to replicate the issue you described.
Please refer to the screenshots for the configurations under EXPO I, EXPO II, and Tweaked modes: link
Based on this, we recommend performing cross-testing with different slots and SSDs to rule out potential hardware issues or compatibility concerns between the M.2 drive and the slot.
Thank you.

with all do respect, You can't say they couldn't replicate when a lot of people on this thread and a couple others are going through it, We even got it fixed and its definitely a bios issue.
Moving gen 4 NVMEs from the pcie gen 5 lanes to Gen 4 lanes at the bottom along with recent Beta bios fixes the problem. meaning it can be fixed with a bios update. we just need the team to look why expo along with NVMEs on pcie gen 5 lanes breaks expo.

Did you test the NVME behaviour at Optimised Defaults [no EXPO overclocking]?
The CPU is new and still receiving AGESA updates at a reasonable rate. The team is working on certain overclocking issues within 1202b, but it's important to remember that manual tuning can often be needed when running the system out of spec. Did you check to see if that memory kit is on the QVL?
