Hi again folks, seem to be having another frustrating problem, I have my rig finally put together and running but I'm having crazy low framerates in almost all games, some games work fairly fine others like crysis 3 hitman absolution do not,
Problem is I'm running sli geforce 780s with an i7 2700k all my drivers ect are up to date when the game starts my frame rates are around 40 with 3d vision on or off then it will boost back up to 60 then drop down to 40 again, nothing is overheating system is on water gpu boost is working cpu speeds are up where they should be, gpu usage and cpu usage is low-ish,
Now it i drop the resolution frame rate doesn't change at all, iv got power settings in nvidia control panel to prefer maximum performance all other power saving features disabled, cant seem to think of a reason what else might be going on overclocking cpu down clocking cpu same results, one thing I'm wondering if anyone here has a maximus v extreme and running sli 8x 8x on the pcie lane switch are the yellow LEDs that indicate which lanes are being used show for the first two pcie 16x slots? Because I have my cards in slot 1a and 3rd slot 2b but the LEDs on the pcie lane switch show as pcie slot 1 and 2 and slot 2 isn't occupied its 2b that's occupied, and gpuZ is showing the cards are running in there respective 8x 8x,
Also for some reason my cpu wont run stable at 5ghz anymore it needs a lot more voltage so I'm running it at stock can a degrading cpu cause this problem even if its back to 3.9ghz and not blue screens ect?,
Thanks if anyone can share any ideas will be appreciated.

My specs are

Asus maximus v extreme
I7 2700k
Corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram
Evga geforce 780 sc acx sli
Intel ssds
Corsair ax1200 psu

Silly question, but have you checked Precision X to make sure your gpu's are upclocking in 3d mode? In the past, when I've had this problem, it's almost always been because my gpu's were trying to run in 2d mode, downclocked to 135mhz.

At the moment I'm running 320.47 , I have tried all the beta drivers for the 780 also 😞 , yeah the clock speeds boost up to 1097 and 1110 in most games weird because there not ment to run under the boost clocks of 1020 some games they stay on 966mhz, but if I increase the voltages and run them at 1200mhz my framerates don't increase at all, if I lower the resolution and graphic settings the frame rate stays the same, gpu usage usually sits just over %50 and cpu like %60 I'm completely stumped have been trying everything I can think of the last 5 days. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

Have you tried a different SLI bridge? I'm not sure a bad SLI bridge would cause the up-and-down fps waves you're seeing, but it could cause the computer to do some wacky things, so it's possible that could be among them? I'm reaching here, but just an idea.

I have had the ez plug connected disconnected it nothing changed, I don't actually have another 2 way sli bridge to test this one was still in the packet that came with the mobo as I haven't previously needed it i changed the connector to the inner part of the gpus instead of the ones closest to the case and ran a game and the screen turned all blue and weird so I connected it back where it was, the thing is if I disable sli and just run one gpu the framerates are the same even in 3d vision or non 3d vision it's like signs for me at least that it would be more of a cpu problem the gpus doing its job like if I run furmark I get a solid framerate of 60 with vsync enabled but if I run heaven I used to get 60fps in 3d vision with my old 690 now I get like 40, but the most frustrating part is in games or anything my gpu usage is like %60 sometimes lower and my cpu usage doesn't go over %50 and doesn't max out any of the threads, if I clock the gpus to 1200mhz the framerates don't change and 2 780s at 1200mhz you would think would destroy any game out, I have no idea what to do next i don't want to try a new mobo and cpu and pay all that money if it does the same thing 😞

Do me a favour and swap your cards over.

And could you tell us which PCIe lanes you are using.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.
