Overclocking Rampage IV BE i7-4930k @4.3 max. Need help to go higher.

Hello there,

The rig is;

Rampage IV Black Edition
Intel i7 4930k @4.3Ghz 1.44v
4x RipjawsZ 8GB (2GBx4) 1600MHz (in total 32gb ram) 9-9-9-24-2N 1.5V
Corsair Hydro H100 for CPU Cooling
Sapphire Radeon 295x2 Gfx
Corsair 800W PSU

I've been overclocking with the help of some friends. But after upgrading my Mobo, Gfx and adding 8Gb more Ram, the overclock stability were at 4.3ghz 1.44v at Max I could get. I didn't try (well I did try once but got BSOD), so 1.45v at 4.4ghz cause I didn't wanna burn my cpu. After doing some torture test with Prime95 and Aida64 temps were at max 95C and min was 60C for 5mins. (Prime95 test was longer compared to Aida64 and temps were as high as 88-90C.)

Is my gfx causing too much stress? or is it low Psu W?

Any help would be appreciated to solve the problem when I want to go higher than 4.5ghz. Thanks in advance.

Well thats the problem I have. Can't get lower on vcore as it'd crash manually.

At the first post I had the Ai OC Tuner was set auto on AI Suite 3, so it changed my memory timing. I'm positive that my timings are right.

I suggest giving aida 64 a go for stress testing it will give you a good idea of where all your voltages are at as well as cpu loading and temps all on the same graph here is a link http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extreme470exe

I almost had a heart attack. Didn't wanted to go 10min mark. Those temps are overkill.

Those temps are really high. I think at this stage I would suggest tuning back your overclock dramatically. The voltage for your Vcore is far too high for 4.3GHz hence why your temps are so high. I would recommend using about 1.3V and then reducing your multiplier until you find stability for that voltage. What cooling solution do you have implemented?

I think you are hitting the wall with your CPU at this point can you find out what voltage your CPU requires to be stable at 4.2 GHz?

at 1.3V the test is;



at 1.265V, couldn't do 1.25 as it Bsod before it booted up windows;

How were the temps and was it stable at 4.2 GHz at 1.265V?

Temps were at maximum around 74C at 1.265V

That sounds about right for temps as well as voltage. I would recommend now increasing your multiplier by 1 and then increasing the voltage in small increment steps until it becomes stable. Once you find stability post the voltage and we will be able to see if you have hit the wall or not.
