Overclocking or Gaming

With my MVF and 3770K, I managed to OC to 5 GHz, I did not test it for an extended period of time and I did not have the custom loop I have now.

With my M7F, I have managed to get it up to 4.8 GHz with quite ease, but that is my gaming rig and it's a muck around going in and changing all the settings about after gaming just to start tweaking with OC settings.

So, I have decided to build myself a brand new rig just for OC. Any suggestions? I am only really an amateur, so do I delve into the X99 series etc, or go with the 1151?

Idea's here????

Hello JimmyH

All depends on what you want, with x99 you have 6 and 8 core cpu options. If you don't want or need that then go with a z170 board (1151) and 6700k cpu.
