I am new to overclocking and would like to know if I could get some serious help with setting the bios correct to overclock my machine; after a few unstable tries i would like some help... I have been reading some & understanding little of it.. but I guess is possible to overclock this config to 4ghz or a bit higher and still be stable?... Could someone help with the OC profile? Also I would like to OC the video cards at some point...

Thanks!

Welcome jdelgado to theROGforum...

First have you reviewed the CrossHair Important and Useful Threads ?
The first step is to be sure you are stable without OC'n.

I have fond memories of my Extreme .. Start with the Memory.
This was much the same as the V is now.. (T2 & Read to Read 5)

There is all types of testing software out there/here .. and this has been discussed
much .. but my favorite down and dirty trick to test the memory is simply to
put the 'rig' to 'sleep' .................. if it wakes right up without issue .. thats stable.

4ghz will be no issue .. (its all about the memory)
(btw .. the font above is extremely hard to read ..) Best of Luck.c.

Thanks!

I am reading all of this for the third/fouth time... trying it out and not doing so well with it... I will keep plugging away at it. My memory is: G.SKILL Ripjaws X + Turbulence II Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)

Any ideas as to where I can find a stable o.c profile to something close to my system? As you can tell I am really new and just want this machine to perform higher at a stable rate...

thanks!

From the "Older Crosshair Series IMPORTANT AND USEFUL THREADS" have you seen this: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?523-Crosshair-4-easy-OC-bios-profiles.&country=&status=

Maybe this could also help: http://www.overclockers.com/step-guide-overclock-amd-phenom/

Make sure you have good cooling on that Phenom, Mine is running at 4ghz on 4 cores with a triple 120mm rad WC and will hit 45) when playing BF3.

I have disabled 2 cores because, 1: Nothing yet uses more than 4 cores, and 2: 4 cores create less heat than 6 😉
