Overclocking bios issues

Hi all

I wonder if you cn help me as this overclock is driving me nuts. Im trying to overclock my i7 4770k. I make all the changes in bios and save. The system reboots and logs into windows. If open aida64 or cpuz and it shows my initial overclock for a few seconds then it drops down to the default stock clock of 3500.

Some times when i reboot back into bios my settings have been changed back to default, even though i saved. I have my windows set to high performance, so its not that but im really stuck. I updated my bios to the lasted version. Am i missing something really obvious

Thanks

Hi Bucks79 and Welcome to ROG

Throttling is normal and is dependent on certain settings in Bios or your selected power plan in Windows.
Disable Cool and Quiet in Bios and in Windows > screen saver>power settings> turn it to "performance mode"...

Only time when it is not normal is insufficient cooling to your CPU.

I have Process Lasso, to change whether I wish to crank to my max OC for gaming then throttle down at idle. Try it out, it will help you to understand your system more.

Run a stress test whilst monitoring cpuz and you should see frequency increase on demand.
Hope this helps.;)
