Overclocking an Intel Core i7 -3770K on an MSI Z77-G45 Motherboard

Hey guys!

I've been using my first custom-built computer since early January, and I love it! I easily OC'd the GPU/VRAM using ASUS GPU Tweak, but OC'ing the CPU is not so easy. I've never done this before. I would use my mobo's OC Genie...but it seems like a bad idea and I'd rather do things manually. I just ordered a Corsair H60, as I've been using the stock cooler so far.
SO...does anyone know of a good guide or something? I can't find one for this specific mobo/cpu combo on ASUS ROG. Maybe I just don't know where to look...
It's currently at 3.5 Ghz (3.9 at max turbo). I'm guessing I could probably pull perhaps 4.6 Ghz? What do you guys think?
My specs are in my signature.

Maybe because this forum is for Asus , I would think the MSI forum would be better

Do not worry about it mate, the guide in the Maximus section about overclocking will give you the basics and that is all you need.

Here is what I would do.

Set XMP for your memory.
Multiplier to 44X
Voltage on auto

F10 and enter and boot to OS.

Run some stress test with HWmonitor open to see your temps and the voltages. Make note of your voltage for the vCore.

Then if you are happy with the temps, play your toughest game for an hour or five 😄 if no crashes then go back into BIOS and increase your multi by 1 and repeat the steps above.

Take care.

Id like to mention that I have my 3770k at 4.6 ghz stable on my "TEMPORY" MSI MPower Board.
Note to ASUS --Its rather nice to have the cpu temp displayed on the mobo LED.
You dont have to have a ROG motherboaed to love ROG.
