Overclocking 4690K to 4.7 and beyond ...

Hi,
Today I installed DeepCool Maelstrom 240 AIO liquid cooler on my i5 4690K (Mobo: Z97-Ranger, RAM: Kingston Hyper-X 2400).
My experience in OC is limited to LGA 775 and air coolers. 😄
After Oc'ing to 4.7 with 1.29 voltage, and running a 20 minutes stress test, the average temp was 68~70 and maximum temp 74~77.
What do you think about the result? Should I aim for more?

44376

I appreciate any opinions and suggestions. Thanks.

With those temps, i dont think anymore would be much benefit as you'd probably need more Vcore which in turn will cause my heat and degrade your cpu faster.

Its a nice overclock and going from 4.7 to 4.8 wont be much of a difference, but say going from 4.4 to 4.7ghz thats when you'd notice performance in real world gaming and applications.

I have my 4820k at 4920mhz and there is not much of difference between 4.8 and 4920mhz, but there is a difference between 4.6 and 4.92

If you can keep the temps below 75 then push higher, if not, its not really worth it.

Best of luck with your future overclock.

Thank you cytotek 🙂
