overclocking 2500k with Gene-Z

Retired
Not applicable
best way to do this? should i use the CPU Level Up setting in BIOS or do it manually?

what settings would i have to change? multiplier and voltage? anything else? i'm looking for around 4.6 to 4.7

Also, does a 4.7 overclock mean turboboost is 4.7 ? Then what is normal speed? 4.3? Still 3.3?

I wouldn't never overclock on a mATX board 😜

Each to their own I suspect. Many have had outstanding results on the Gene-Z and the board does offer the full gambit of BIOS settings as are found with the big brother.

My advice is since you appear to to be new to the over-clocking of a SB CPU is go have a read of the very good guides that can be found sticky at the top of the Maximus sub forum. There are a whole slew of very interesting articles there. Below is a good starting point.

The CPU is the limiting factor for over clocking SB and not the motherboard, unlike past platforms were the MB might have been a factor hold back the max overclock. The type and quality of the motherboard will determine how sustainable the overclock is over time. Because to overclock right near the edge of stability you do need good voltage delivery and that is where the premium motherboards shine.
